Suggestions for dinner with future French in-laws
Thanks for all of the advice! I'm intrigued by Sweets and Savories and Sepia particularly, but everything looks great. This gives us more ideas as well for what we can suggest to the Frenchies for the rest of the week; in addition to family, there'll be a group of friends coming in from France too, and they'll surely be eating out at least a few times during their stay in Chicago.
HIs parents are super relaxed and up for trying new things. And his mom, la future belle-mère, is a sweetheart so I'm sure she'll love whatever we decide.
Thanks again
Suggestions for dinner with future French in-laws
I'm marrying a Frenchman and his family will be coming to Chicago in October for a week for the wedding. A few days before the event, we wanted to do a rehearsal-ish dinner for the immediate families (maybe 15-20 people) so that everybody can get to know each other (our parents have never met).
What we're looking for:
-someplace not too noisy (there'll be a fair amount of interpreting between English and French, with not everyone sharing the same language)
-somewhere that's easily accessible by public transport (they won't have a car)
-mid-range prices
-not French cuisine
I'd like to do something traditionnally American but would rather not do a pizzeria or steakhouse. I had thought about Mado (http://madorestaurantchicago.com/) or Erwin (http://www.erwincafe.com/), both of which I've been to, but would be open to new suggestions.
Any recommendations would be helpful! Thanks
