Best of Bloor West/High Park?
Yes, Cool Hand is in the Junction. But back to High Park ( on Bloor West); went to Sharkeys a few weeks ago and the reno is truly scary. Don't kow if this is recent as I haven't been there for a couple of years. Food just okay and lots of room and taking overflow from Dr. Generosity.
Went there because our small group didn't want to wait last in line on a cold day for Dr. Generosity for lunch.
Churrasco Portugril on Danforth Rd.
Poutine at a Portuguese restaurant? What am I missing here, I've been to a few and have never seen poutine on a menu. French fries, definitely, but no cheese curds.....
Pizza and Wings from one resto or chain?
As part of my research, we got a couple of orders of wings tonight from Pizza Hut. Tried the buffalo medium heat and cajun.....both meh. The "taters" which are weirdly breaded potatoes ( i think) in the shape of a W were bizarre. And tasteless. Didn't try the pizza but wouldn't bother again with their wings.
Will try Wing Machine next time.
Pizza and Wings from one resto or chain?
I'm having tweens and a couple of adults over and will be ordering pizza mainly for the kids. I would also like to order not great, but decent wings from the same place to make it easy.
I've heard that Pizza Hut has pretty good wings but the pizza on their website doesn't look too good. Pizza Nova looks like a better bet for pizza but never tried their wings.
This shouldn't be that difficult...and does the chain location matter? I'm in downtown west end Toronto.
Toronto's Best Chicken Wings
Second the rec for the Wing Company at King/Bathurst. Went a couple of weeks ago and bot 30 wings with 3 different sauces - a medium buffalo, honey garlic, and sweet chili something. Wings and sauces were very nice, the dipping sauces were very good. Only small disappointment was that I was told that the fries were included. It was - sort of. As I was buying for 3 people, 2 out of 3 had wings in their order but mine was missing fries. Had I known I would have ordered extra. Quality was very good but at over $30 for 30 wings - a little pricey for takeout.
A kid who loves mussels
We ended up taking my now 10 yr old daughter to Beer Bistro and she loved it! We had a great table for 4 at the back and the suits did start to leave after 7. Only minor complaint was the noise level...think it was more the design of the room and acoustics rather than the number of people at the bar.
As far as the main event - mussels - the resto was very nice to quickly accommodate my lactose intolerant kid by taking the cream out of her choice of broth. Mussels were wonderful all round, and I expected the bread to be chewy but was fine. Will go back next time we're in the mood for mussels.

quick, economical and "ethnic" lunches on a Sunday, within a 15 minute walk of Jarvis and Wellesley?
Someone already mentioned it but Ghazale on Wellesley is fresh, lots of selection, and is cheap. My daughter goes to NBS so I'm also trolling the area for good and inexpensive restos.
The best AUTHENTIC Italian in Toronto?
And Via Allegro is nice for a special occasion. It's stuck in a strip mall across from Sherway mall and the decor is a little dated for urbanites, but food, mostly northern Italian, is top notch.

Fat Belgian sounds great because of the selection and was my first choice...but read below average reviews on this board. Nice to see that someone who loves mussels enjoyed them there.
Checked out Rodneys on Bay menu and they have one mussel dish; sounds good but would be nice to have choice if possible. Think Vittorio's is gone, i went there years ago and had excellent mussels.
A kid who loves mussels
My soon to be 10 year old wants to go out for mussels on her birthday. I've narrowed it down to Beer Bistro or Bier Markt....any issues taking an urban kid there on a Friday night with 3 adults?
Other suggestions? The reviews for Fat Belgian don't look good.
