Restaurants in Kent Island, Maryland

I agree with Scott about Capriotti's. I was there today for the hot pastrami. My first Capriotti's experience was in Dover, DE in 1995 and I was very excited when they opened up on the Island. We were in need of a good sandwich shop and they seem to be doing very well. My favorites are their meatballs, pastrami or cheesesteak subs, but there are plenty of others to choose from.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Rustico yet. It is one of the best Italian restaurants around. I don't just mean around Kent Island either. The menu changes regularly but there are some staples. Their pizza is an excellent reproduction of a neopolitan pizza. Apps are excellent with one of my favorites being the breaded green tomato's topped with buffalo mozzerella, or the Eggplant and Mozz Napolean. I could go on and on about entree's and desserts and wine, but you would probably start drooling like I am. ;) Try it, and you will be glad you did.

Lunch over MD Bay Bridge

Glad she enjoyed it. The Narrows is more known for the cream of crab, but...some only like the vegetable style.
Too bad it was a little breezy today.

If not the Narrows, try the Bridges restaurant. I don't know what kind of atmosphere you are looking for, but that would help make the decision. Bridges is next to the Narrows, so you could even change your mind when you got there. Hemingways has new owners and the food has improved, but unless the view of the Bay bridge is what you want to have, you would be better off eating at either of the two aforementioned restaurants.

If you need to keep it to the downtown area, my suggestion is Faidley's jumbo lump or another place that has not been mentioned so far...Gertrude's. I have not visited Gertrude's, but there was a show on Food Network (I think) that had a competition for the best crab cake in B'more and while Faidley's won, I am going to try Gertrude's when I get up there. The atmosphere between the two places couldn't be more different. Gertrude's is at the Baltimore Museum of Art and Faidley's is in let's say a "no where to go but up" part of town. I know it doesn't belong in this section, but if you want a very good Italian deli just walk north about 1.5 blocks on Paca street and get some groceries or sandwiches from Trinachria.

So I am a Baltimore native and have lived on the Eastern Shore for 12 yrs. In Baltimore Faidley's is one of the top crab cakes. They don't use Asian crabs according to them. You should spend the extra and get the Jumbo lump about $12.
On the eastern shore you want to go to Kentmoor on Kent Island or The Narrows. Near Annapolis, the Edgewater Restaurant has a great crabcake as well. I wouldn't take anyone that I liked to G&M.
