New York Christmas

What is a traditional New York Christmas lunch or dinner and where will I find one?

I will be visiting from Australia where we do the ham and turkey and plum pudding for christmas even though it is summer. What do you do in New York when it is nice and chilly and maybe even snowing?

I need a restaurant that will produce something traditional but still good eating.

In Melbourne, Australia all the good restaurants get booked out quickly so I thought I should ask early. Chinese wasn't really what i was looking for as our US Christmas!
I will look on Open Table as suggested.
Does anyone have favourite restaurants in the Soho area or nearby that they can recommend anyway not just for Christmas lunch?
