Whoa! 4 years later. This thread is like a child I raised, to be cautious of bad food service......

Wok-n-Roll closed Torchy's gonna open

I am not going to demean Wok-N-Roll by answering that question. 3 years from now it will be a gastronome urban legend ... holla

Wok-n-Roll closed Torchy's gonna open

My favorite Chinese mega dive restaurant has closed, which makes me very sad. The awesome sign in the window reads " CLOSED no more restaurantt" ....I was hoping for another sweet dive, but instead I get gourmet 4$ tacos. Bummmmmmmer

Woe is me - no more duck at Wok-n-Roll

This is terrible news........ For 7 bucks I could get a heaping pile-o-duck with rice to boot on a styrofoam plate. One of the many reasons Wok-n-Roll has acheived legendary status in my eyes. Oh well there is always the roast pork, heck even the steamed chicken is pretty dang good, but it just won't be the same without that overly greasy duck goodness.

Okonomiyaki ?

I am not aware of anyone who serves this awesomeness. You are going to have to make your own. Asahi Imports on North Burnet rd. has a pretty good batter mix and you can find the recipe online. There is a Youtube channel called "cooking with dog" that has a great video on all the steps involved. It is really fun to make and even more fun to eat. Especially after a night of hard drinking.

Pour House on Burnet.....anyone been yet?

Since this place is right by my house I really want to like it....
I thoroughly enjoyed Brentwood Tavern since I could roll up with the family, drink some beers, let the kids play, see some live music, and mosey on back to the house. I found some reviews of it on Yelp, but they seemed suspect and with quotes like this "The lack of play scape and live music is also a plus. With a jukebox like theirs, you don't need live music. The one downside was the number of children wandering around the patio. Hopefully, the word will get out that this is a pub and not a Chuck E Cheese." It doesn't look like I will get there anytime soon.

I actually found the reviews quite a humorous read.

I will hit it when the kids are not around. Let me know if you get there before I do:

Zi Pizza

FALSE, I got a large chorizo, pastor, onion, and cilantro pizza (one of their specialty pizzas) and It freakin KIIIILED. The sauce was some type of roasted tomato salsa and it was piled with el pastor action. The crust kinda blew but it was like eating a real badass queso-dilla on flat bread as opposed to a tortilla. I will admit to it having some bastard food like qualities, buuut it was 7.50 for the largest el pastor taco...e thing I have ever had Pure-cheap-ass kickery. Total drunk food . Loved it
