Mable's smokehouse and banquet hall

I recently went to makbe's and thought it was fantastic. i went to school in the south and have been craving real BBQ for some time, not this fake NYC stuff like Blue Smoke and Fatty Cue.

It was outstanding. Counter girl was super friendly, atmosphere was very laud back. Food was tremendous. Deluxe platter of brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sausages. Sides of mac, beans, slaw, cornbread.

The actual meat was out iof this world and straight forward. Not some chef's "riff" on BBQ. It was the real deal. Sides were kinda average but still very satisfying. Did not require too much sauce nor was it over sauced. Perfect smokey flavor and tender, with just the right amount of fat to keep it pleasant. I would reccomend to all.

Anyone know any other BBQ thatis straigh forward and actually good?

Top 5 Most Overrated in Manhattan

Im a little late to this topic but i def agree with momofuko, way overrated, and too full of hipster douches
Im surprised that no one here has mentioned caracas or westville. Both places are always mobbed and the food is not so great or cheap at both, sure the prices are cheap but the portions are tiny. Anyways my list

1. Caracas
2. Westville--any location
3. Prime meats
4. Lugers
5. Shake shack
