Anyone try Bistro Grill's 5 Town's $8 specials?
I saw a big sign while driving by the Bistro Gril for their $8 specials. That sounds VERY reasonable ( I think takeout only?), but I wondered if they are any good? Decent portions? Anyone try it?
Travelling to Vienna
Many places close in the afternoon. We drove through Vienna on our way to Mauthausen, and found not a lot open. We ate at bochur Tov. which was good. . (Bagels and Books was open but they don't take credit cards, the banks were closed at that hour too,a nd we didn't have Euro since we were staying in Hungary. They have bagels, salads, coffee.)
Crawford's Coffee Cedarhurst
Crawford's Coffee opened in the old Starbucks on Central Avenue in Cedarhurst. I was intrigued and stopped by this morning. I would describe it as Kosher Starbucks plus. It looks similar to Starbucks, even with a refrigerated case in front with salads and wraps. Menu board is posted with all the drinks and menu items. They have some interestign looking items like salads, pizzas, etc. I bought just a cup of coffe, which pricewise was comparable to Starbucks, maybe more expensive, come to think of it. (2.00 for a small cup.) THe coffee was excellen. I'm a coffee snob.
but I 'm not sure i could afford a latte there!

Alas, I can't seem to find that thread anywhere!
Kosher food Hungary/Romania/Austria
We'll be travelling (as a family with kids) for a week in Hungary/ Romania and Austria. We're set for Shabbat food, and I know about some kosher restaurants in Budapest and Vienna. does anyone have suggestions for how to manage "on the run" when we don't have time to make a trip to a restaurant.?
Gone are the days of extra suitcases to lug food... What can we find there? what's worth taking? Thanks for any advice.
Fusion Toast Bar in Cedarhurst
I went for lunch with my daughter. We loved it. The place is very pretty, the service was excellent. And we loved the dipping sauce for the bread.
The menu isn't cheap, but if you go for hte lunch special, or for one of the dinner specials (20% off Mondays, 32.99 for two wednesdays), then it's great.
Indian food for shul event.
Does anyone know of a kosher restaurant or caterer that can provide Indian food for a small shul event? South shore shul. Needs to have reliable hashgacha.

Anyone try Yotvata on Union Turnpike, Queens?
I agree. It's not more expensive than anyplace else... FOr lunch, it's more than I'd spend normally.
Anyone try Yotvata on Union Turnpike, Queens?
The fish dishes were 22.95 and 24.95. And they come with a salad.
Anyone try Yotvata on Union Turnpike, Queens?
I ate lunch at Yotvata today. The menu is almost identical to Cafe Muscat. The restaurant is smaller and has less of a noisy, cafe vibe than Muscat has. While we were waiting for our food to arrive they brought out warm bread with butter and olive tapenade. a refill of the bread later came with more tapenade and a spicy spread.
I ordered bass. It came atop a bed of eggplant with tahina. and on top of the fish were two ravioli. A side salad (green or Israeli. I chose Israeli) also came with the meal. My father had salmon which was served with brown rice.
The food was very tasty. But expensive. We didn't order drinks, appetizers or dessert and the bill was still over 50 dollars. Service was very good too.
All in all, good food, beautifully presented. But I can't go back there often with those prices.
Anyone try Yotvata on Union Turnpike, Queens?
I keep meaning to try this restaurant. Anyone been there?
Shnitzel Time (Five Towns, NY)
I've been to Shnitzel Time, but I haven't tried the Shawarma. I had a shnitzel salad which was very good. It's very similar Burger Bar's salads with the same toppings and ingredients.
Where can I find Rokeach Nyafat in NJ, NYC or FL
I know they still make it because I saw the product listed in the 2009 OU Pesach guide. But sorry,, I don't know where you can buy it.
mishloach manot themes
We bought six 100 calorie snacks and a 13 calorie gumball. i called it Purim segula, and wrote that there is a little known segula that if you eat 613 calories on purim, you will live a long, prosperous life. I also included silly things you had to do (turn around 3x, touch your left pinkie to your write ear) and say the following. And then it said in Hebrew letters "I think the ____;s are pulling my leg."
bison cold cuts
I used to be able to get bison salami at Brach's and Gourmet Glatt. I LOVED It. But i haven't seen it in ages...
Pizza Far Rockaway/5 towns
My family really liked the pizza. It was al ittle different than Dave's but I loved it...
Off The Grill in Cedarhurst
I'm afraid to go back, and also afraid to read everyone else's reviews just in case it all goes south.
The onglet is quite soft and boneless. I really don't know my steak cuts, but i remember having onglet in the past and loving it. so i tried again.
Off The Grill in Cedarhurst
I've been back since they changed owners. (We had taken it "off our list' after several bad experiences). It was EXCELLENT. I have an onglet steak, and took half home. It was heavenly. I don't remember what ever yone else ordered, i was so involved with my steak.
Kosher in Argentina
If you are going to Argentine, it is all about the meat! RIght now I don't remember names of restaurants... we tried a different one every night. The meat is amazing and plentiful. My hubby doesn't eat red meat, so i'm afraid it wasn't all that fun for him.
Glatt Kosher Kingdom
Today at GKK, they were giving away a free package (6 pack? 8 pack?) of the Kool Aid drinks in plastic bottles.
Glatt Kosher Kingdom
i picked up a pizza last night for dinner (12.99). I REALLY liked it!
Glatt Kosher Kingdom
Sigh. I really miss Big Banana. I think this could be fun. You never know when you crave Healthy Delite kugels.
Glatt Kosher Kingdom
I WENT!!! This morning. It is VERY nice. They weren't 100% set up yet, but it looked very nice. There were counters in several parts of the store where I guess pizza, sushi, takeout will go. There was only a tiny bit of meat in the meat section... was still empty. The produce had no prices posted on them yet. Groceries were a really great selection,a nd prices seemed reasonable (I bought Dreamfield's pasta for 2.09. ) A lot of israeli products as well as imports from other countries. The candy aisle was impressive. The staff was really really trying. (I think i was the only customer in the store and every aisle had eager staff posted in it.
Of course there is much yet to see. like will it become a mess once a lot of shoppers get in there? Will their meat and takeout sections be good? Will they run specials.
