Not a recipe but as someone who used to make them for one of the gourmet food stores, for maximum visual impact you absolutely need to vary the colour and texture of the packages and products in the gift basket. Thin little envelopes of mulling spices slipped in front of bottle of apple cider for mulling, individual cookies or wrapped truffles scattered over the top to fill in any holes, a couple of boxed or pouched items of different sizes for back drops will help with the look and also draw the eye down toward the front where your homemade products will be the star.

A group of girl friends that hardly ever get the chance to go out are planning to do so next week. We all work in the food industry but I have been back east for several months and am the one who is to decide on where to go. We need a relaxed comfortable environment where we can talk and laugh but the food should be great, the cocktail list fun, and preferrably not expensive. What's new or untried that we would enjoy?
