Recommendations for restaurants in Paso Robles
A great number of choices....Bistro Laurent is our favorite; along with Villa Creek. Artisans has a great menue but it comes with a noise factor. There are half a dozen others near the park; some that cost less than the top three. Roberts seems to be doing well as is the newly opened Estrella.

It is open and quite good. an interesting menue with a niice atmosphere and good service.
They do the nice touch where wine by the glass is presented for a tasting before you are comitted to it.
Walking Out - UOH
Hi All,
I'm new to the board but a Boston area lifer and really into food; and with restaurant's service.
Last week my party of three left the Union Oyster House before eating.
First a little background; my parents and families were from the Boston area. One of my uncles worked at the Union Oyster House so it was a favorite for both families.
For quite a few years I was out of the area for some time before I had an opportunity to return to the UOH; with a group of foreign customers. The meal was a big disappointment for me both in service and in the food.
I had not returned again until last week; this time with my wife and a friend; both from California.
When we reached the upper dining area the 'head hostess' was having an animated discussion with the 'floor hostess'. She was eventually instructed to seat "..those three over there...". We arrived at that table to find it covered with coats from a party at a nearby table. There was more discussion an where to move us; at the time the restaraunt was less than half full.
When we finally were seated it took just a quick look at the menue prices, and, at each other before we departed to a bar and grill just around the corner where they were delighted to see us and the same meal cost ~one half of the UOH; and was delicious.
I really hate giving up on a 'tradition' but for us it is time to move on. Dining out must be a customer event, not a restaraunt event. Perhaps 'success with tourist and corporate groups has let the UOH loose site of this.
