Salt Caramels from Boule ( ??? )
Anyone know if they still sell these somewhere? Heard the they were going to sell them from another storefront / restaurant / website. Their salt milk-caramels were the best I'd ever eaten!

you might try "The Slice" on Ocean Park (there's also one on Wilshire and in Playa Del Vista)
My girl was raised in Manhattan and she likes it. It's not NY, and is sometimes inconsistent but it's the best we've had on the Westside. we through it on the bottom of the oven for a few mins when we get it home which helps a lot.

I understand that comment. I drove there from SMonica and they had no AC! It had to be 100 degrees in there! so we ate our slices in the car...not exactly ideal.
I don't mind hole-in-the-walls but that was intolerable.

Thanks for the info! I think you mean Barrington/McLaughlin & Venice Blvd. (National & Barrington is Whole Foods)
I'll definitely check this place out, driven by plenty of times. That would be a great resource!

thanks! but I called them, and they don't sell them to go.
I still need to eat there, haven't been yet.

The best flour tortillas I've had are made with lard. I know it sounds scary, but it makes a difference and adds a moist texture to them. And from what I've been told it's how Abuelitas/Grandmas make them.
Here's a youtube recipe....

CARNE ASADA IN MEAT MARKETS?
My vote is for Sánchez CarnicerÃa (Sanchez Meat Co.) on Inglewood and Culver.
Been going there for years and know of many Westsiders that go here $5.99/lb prepared. Best to get it the day before and let it sit overnight. They also have good homeade corn chips you can buy too. I haven't tryed any others around (no reason to), but this place is always packed and my bbq guests are always happy!
Looking for fresh Flour Tortillas in West LA (?)
Hi all, this is my first post,
I'm looking to buy freshly made FLOUR tortillas to take home on the Westside. Much like the tortillas at Paco's (but they don't sell them separately). Soft doughy and not filled with preservatives like store bought. Just flour, salt, baking powder, water, and lard. To me this makes all the difference in a Mexican meal.
Thanks in advance!
