Good Italian Restaurants in SW Houston / Galleria area?
I love the original Carraba's on Kirby. Still owned by Johnny & Damian and has none of the chain feel. Grotto's is only a mere shadow of itself since Landry's took over. Another spot, would be the Ciao Bello, one of the Vallone's newest ventures located in the former location of Jimmy Wilson's on San Felipe just outside the loop

Good Local Seafood in Galveston-Houston Area?
I believe, Cajun Greek Seafood gets their seafood from the Greek fish monger located near the harbor. I love to get seafood there myself as well. Good, fresh product and reasonable prices.
Looking for crawfish in Houston
The best crawfish with the best prices are served at The Hideaway on Dunvale (3122 Dunvale). Steve-O and his crew know how to do them up right!!! They are always fresh and perfect in size and seasoning. You can get a pound for $4 (comes with corn and potato). On Wednesdays, they have a Honky Tonk Happy Hour and you can get 3 lbs. for $10.50 or 5 for $17 along with Shiner for $2. YOU WILL NOT BE DISPAPPOINTED.
places to eat around the med center?
There are several great places in the Rice Village which will actually be in your "back yard"!
January/February Crawfish in Houston?
Start checking with The Hideaway on Dunvale (3122 Dunvale). They should start carrying crawfish really, really soon! They do a great job on cooking them and always at a reasonable price!
Best Houston Burgers
I believe one of the best burgers is served at The Hideaway on Dunvale. Fresh, not frozen, hand-formed patties grilled to perfection not overcooked. Yummy!
Texas Chicken Fried Steak
Ok -- The HIdeaway on Dunvale in Houston has GREAT chicken fried steak!!! Its actually a hand cut rib eye steak that is battered and deep fried. WAAAY yummy!!!! Served with fresh mashed potatoes and fried okra. You would never believe that this was actually being served at a bar! The price is right too ($8). Its not on the menu, but just ask and they will whip one up for you!

Group dining in Houston
Last time I went to La Strada I was highly disappointed in the food. Really said since it has alway been a favorite. Damians has the room. Ouisie's has beautiful space. Nino's space is smaller, but Grappino's beind them (still run by same family) is a great reception space with the same food. Looks like an Italian garden. A couple of others to consider -- Masraff's, Post Oak Grill or Polo's Signature. All have private space.
Group dining in Houston
Depends on your budget. Tony's is wonderful and has beautiful space, but the cost is goin gto be more than some of the other places you mention. Maggiano's has beautiful room space that I have considered for other events. Food is good. I have also used the private room facilities at Fogo de Chao and found them a bit "corporate". Zula is actually downtown, I believe, so parking would be an issue for your guests.
Houston for two days - What should I not miss?
Although I agree with a fabulous meal at Mark's, I can assure you that you will pay upwards of $40 for the menu quoted above.
Rec's for fun/non-chain 10th Anniversary in Houston
Although I personally have not been, I am hearing good things about Dante's Seafood which is located in Chelsea Market on Montrose.
Rice University Area-Saturday night (HOU)
Not sure how late they are open, but first thing that comes to mind is benjy's.
How was the food if your wedding was at Union Station, Old Red or Magnolia Hotel?
I have used the Magnolia Hotel for an event before and used my own caterer. Unless they have chanaged, you can use who you want from their "approved" list.
