Was just going to suggest Olive Chicken - and I see you beat me to it. I'm heading there after work to pick up supper tonight...can't wait!
Twang Lemon-Lime Beer Salt
Will be in the LA area later this week and early next week (coming from Canada). Does anyone know of the Lemon-Lime Beer Salt from Twang and where I might get some to bring back?.
Thanks so much for any help.
Blue Star Diner - YYC
Dairy Lane has expanded and has now opened a location in Bridgeland...819 1 Ave NE. I plan to hit it on the weekend...but from what I;ve heard so far - the menu is similar to the tried and true location in West Hillhurst. Open for breakkie and lunch.

Thank you - a perfect weekend for a white sangria...and I need a few for the rumtopf as well.
Prairie Food Trucks - A Possibility?
I was going to meet a friend down there at noon. She went early (11:05) and called to tell me that we were looking at 90 minutes or longer. Guess I will wait for next time.
Cassis Bistro - Calgary
I was there for lunch a week ago - see above. Hope you go and enjoy it.
Cassis Bistro - Calgary
Have to give this new little gem a definite thumbs up. We went for lunch on the weekend. We started with the special soup of the day...Sweet Potato with a drizzle of truffle oil. It was absolutely divine...and the portion was not small. My SO went on to have the seafood special...and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a mixture of seafood in a phyllo crust. I saw at least 3 other tables ordering this dish as well - so it seemed to be very popular. No opinion from me - I don't do seafood. But I do do Beef Tartare...which is where I directly headed for next. It was great - lots of capers. My only disappointment was that it was served with a regular egg - not a quails egg...so there was quite a bit of yolk left on my plate. We finished with the lemon tart which again was very nice...but the crust could have been a little thinner. During the two hours we were there - there was a steady stream of patrons. Never fully booked...but always more than half. The staff were knowledgeable and very pleasant. They have an area on the back wall where they show old french films. Will definitely be back.
The Tilted Grill (YYC)
Curious - has anyone tried this place. We're looking for a brunch spot and I understand they have a big patio. The location works because we have people coming from all 4 outer quadrants of the city so we definitely want something kind of central.
Thanks
Prairie Food Trucks - A Possibility?
This is awesome...it can't get started soon enough. Can't wait.
The new Calgary Farmers' Market at Blackfoot Centre will open tomorrow
When are you "officially" open?
Fiasco Gelato back in Kensington? YYC
good timing - just in time for the summer solstice party this weekend.

If you're referring to Shanghai Fine Food (Henry and Jean) - fabulous dumplings. They take great care with their food - have never been disappointed.
JoJo's BBQ - Calgary
Weekends - YEAH!
Great BBQ on my new deck - now lets hope the weather cooperates.
The new Calgary Farmers' Market at Blackfoot Centre will open tomorrow
It appears it didn't take very long for the first vendor to drop out...the General Store closed on the weekend. But - according to Swerve - Blush Lane will be coming back to the CFM and occupying the vacant area where the GS was. Welcome back Rob!...can't wait for the white peaches.
JoJo's BBQ - Calgary
Finally - can't wait to try this out. Do you know what hours she is there? This location is right around the corner from my mechanic (so I'll be sure to let them know) - but it's a bit far for me to go for lunch. If she's there long enough (mid-afternoon) - maybe I could stop by and grab supper.
stylish Lounges in YYC
Another thought might be Fuze on Fourth...same area as Vin Room.

weekend lunch in chestermere?
I use to live out there - but moved into Calgary about 15 years ago. I haven't been back out there much - so the only places that come to mind are the Chestermere Landing and the Golf Course...Lakeside Greens. Sorry - can't offer anything more in the form of recs.
where in Inglewood-Calgary
Inglewood has lots of choices now. I would recommend Jacqueline Suzanne's Bistro. We've been a couple of times in the past 6 months and each time has been wonderful. There's also the Wildernest Dream Cafe. I haven't been for a while - but knowing the owner - I'm sure it is still great.

YYC - 4th Spot
The former Karouzo's and then Titans (26 Ave/4th St NW) is coming alive with a new restaurant/bar. I understand there was a lot of water damage suffered by the building...which is probably why it has sat empty for so many years. No details on opening date/menu yet. Hopefully, it will bring another good option for the neighborhood.
Recs for a Birthday lunch.
I will be treating a very good friend to a birthday lunch this weekend. She hasn't been to Charcut...but since they are not open for lunch on Saturday - I am looking for other suggestions. I've thought about Boxwood but a recent review has me wondering if the quality is still being maintained. Any good thoughts out there?
Thanks much.
The new Calgary Farmers' Market at Blackfoot Centre will open tomorrow
Just to clarify...in order for a market to be an "approved" farmers market by AFMA - 80% of the vendors must "make it, bake it or grow it". Both Kingsland and the new CFM fit these guidelines (Crossroads does not). For sure the market will be open Good Friday and all weekend. On Easter Sunday - there may be a few vendors who will not be open - but most will be. I think the best move was making the Thursday hours (11-7) year round.
The new Calgary Farmers' Market at Blackfoot Centre will open tomorrow
I know there are always mixed reviews about this market...but it will finally open tomorrow at 11 am. There are a lot of new vendors who were not at the Currie Barracks location. Give them a try. There is lots of parking on the east side of the building with entrances from the SE and NE corner of the location. Many of the vendors did not have other locations to sell out of while the construction was ongoing (and on going and on going) so I am sure they would greatly appreciate any support. They will be open on Thursdays YEAR ROUND from 11 am to 7 pm and then on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.

Tomatillos in Calgary
I saw them at the Kensington Safeway - maybe 2-3 weeks ago. They might bring them in on a seasonal basis...but Superstore would be another good option to try. Cinco de Mayo is closing in. Ole!
Going Nuts of CFM
Actually - quite a few of the vendors are offering delivery. The market won't be opening on the 8th...but it should open on the 15th if all goes according to plan. Everyone should keep their fingers & toes crossed. Once they do open - they are expanding their hours to include Thursdays year-round (11-7) and then 9-5 on Fri/Sat/Sun.
ISO the best sandwich in YYC
My best recent sandwich was the grilled cheese at Dairy Lane. I went with the gruyere on sourdough...simple - but perfection.

out of towner needs help
Above are all great suggestions. Just to add someplace for Breakfast (or lunch)....Dairy Lane on 19 St NW (West Hillhurst community)... great food for great prices with a top-notch staff and they source as much local as possible.
GOOD Pizza in NW Calgary?
I've occasionally had a few problems with Nick's as well...and I haven't ordered from them for quite awhile now as a result. To dine in is another matter...never a problem,
I tried Bob's pizza this past weekend. One of the pizzas was perfect...the other one - the bottom of the crust was so burnt it was horrific.
My safe and secure "go to" recently has been Rio.
Looking for chili recipes!
I make a Southwestern - Chicken/Turkey Chili...but use chunks of chicken or turkey instead of ground. I roast the chunks solo before adding them to the mixture. Aside from the beans, I also add corn and garlic...gotta have garlic!
