That would be a dream. What do you think the wait would be on a Saturday at opening (11:30am)?

Brunch in Santa Monica

What's up, LA? I'm headed out west this wknd and was hoping that you could steer me in the right direction. I'm having brunch with some buddies in Santa Monica on Saturday, and was wondering what some of your favorites are. I'll be near the Fairmont Hotel (101 Wilshire Boulevard - Santa Monica, CA 90401), if that helps.
Waterside/a good view would be ideal. Many thanks in advance...

NYC restaurants that make you go back for that 1 great dish, everything else they serve is bad.

Queso dip and tortilla chips at Q'doba
Fried Twinkies at The Stumble Inn

Seconding the rec for Aroma - went last night and really enjoyed the bourekas. The haloumi sandwich was off the hook. Thanks!

Chains:
Jamba Juice - Their brown sugar oatmeal is a religious experience.

Neighborhood spots:
Kaffe 1668 - outstanding handmade chocolates
Duane Park Patisserie - love the petit fours
Billy's Bakery - solid cup of coffee
Cafe Clementine - some of the best cookies I've had in town
Distilled - for cocktails...cannot wait to try the food menu
All Good Things - love to browse and sample

Where to buy soft candies such as fruit jellies, turkish delights, etc?

Their pate de fruits are fantastic - I prefer them to La Maison.

Gourmet fruit jelly candies in NYC?

La Bergamote has fabulous pate de fruits!

Bakery suggestions for NYC trip?

Good call on the Cinnamon Snail. Their creme brulee donuts are, truly, out of this world.
Also:
Duane Park Patisserie - petit fours
City Cakes - cookies (thick and moist, comparable to Levain)
William Greenberg Desserts - black & white cookies

Pop-Pan crackers?

Thanks, so good to know. I've never seen them in Chinatown, but I will look harder! The curry flavor sounds awesome - will try!

Pop-Pan crackers?

They're the best things since sliced bread. Seriously. Do you mind asking that guy where he got them?

Grown Up Bar Near Beauty and Essex?

Not sure you'll find anything *TOO QUIET* in that area, but I really, really enjoyed my night at PKNY: http://www.pk-ny.com/
Are you looking for the immediate vicinity?

Looking for something very NY centric to send to co-workers in other states. Ideas?

William Greenberg Desserts makes the best 'black and white' cookies in the city, IMO. You can order them here: http://wmgreenbergdesserts.com/STORE/...

Pop-Pan crackers?

Just returned from Hong Kong and have nearly ran out of my supply of Pop-Pan (spring onion) crackers. I have yet to see them ANYWHERE here. Does anyone know where/if they're available for purchase in the area? TIA.
