Since you kicked up this thread I thought I'd add another: @angrybflay. This is a parody and not really Bobby Flay. Note: very strong language.

Mexican Breakfast in Mpls

Thanks ike...I didn't realize that La Loma served breakfast - I'll check it out. Here's their menu page btw:

Mexican Breakfast in Mpls

Every so often I get a hankering for Mexican breakfast (huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, etc.) Any recs? I'm interested in Minneapolis only, and am looking for a Mexican restaurant and not breakfast places that have a Mexican-inspired item on the menu. Thanks.

Potato Chips

Pat's Tap on Nicollet has handmade chips - very good.

Potato Chips

Are you talking about freshly made chips in a restaurant, or bagged chips? If bagged, we can only talk about local producers on this forum.

Whole Foods and Sustainable Fishing

Interesting article in the NYT concerning Whole Foods:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/22/us/to-new-england-fishermen-another-bothersome-barrier.html?_r=2&partner=rss&emc=rss&pagewanted=all

Chowhound has certainly hosted several negative threads concerning WF's food policies and practices, so it is heartening to hear that they are no longer selling non-sustainable seafood. My bigger concern is why Legal Seafood's will be picking up the slack? I'm sure they didn't want their name associated with this, but now it is. Do you think they should, or will, change their policies?

Attention MSPD - Torta Alert. I repeat, a Torta Alert for Taqeuria Los Paisanos

If I went to a restaurant and found they had no soap or towels in the ladies room, I would let the management know. Have you ever worked in a restaurant? Can't be everywhere all the time. Do the lady-like thing.

Minneaplis suggestions for family of 5

As you have 3 teenagers, I suggest a place that has good food and would be interesting to them...Bryant Lake Bowl! A combination of cool diner and classic 50's bowling and an interesting and hip crowd.

Friday Fish Fry - where is the best one?

Can't say I've tried them, but here is an listing from the Pioneer Press:

Nancy Silverton interview

Where is Slice produced and why were you interested in the show? Need a little more info. Do you have a link to the video?

Gordon Ramsay, Kitchen Nightmares. Do you like the show, believe restaurants are real..lol

You're funny SteveRB. Iv'e always watched the show, but I'm liking the current season more than past ones...he seems to have toned down his act a bit, and now that he's living in the US, it seems he's become more emotionally invested in the restaurants.

I was curious about the latest show, Hon in Baltimore, and checked out Yelp to see what was being said after the makeover - pretty interesting:

Major Ramen craving

Funny, I was there yesterday having the Tonkatsu, too!

Beni-Shoga (pickled ginger, which is not the same as Gari) is traditionally served with Tonkatsu; I personally like it, as you get different flavors with each bite. To each their own...you can certainly ask them to leave it out.

Mo Rocca's New Show

Thanks HillJ, I loved the video. I swear I could smell it through my computer.

Mo Rocca's New Show

Beautiful show. Being so jaded on cooking shows, well, this one was so sweet, and very informative.

Well done Mo!

Hell's Kitchen Parody by Key and Peele

For some reason only the short version is available...as soon as the extended one is I'll put it on. It's about 90 seconds longer and goes WAY overboard!

I love how they take everything to the "Nth" degree:

The decline of Food & Wine magazine, Dana Cowin's fault or my own?

I agree that not only F&W, but also Cooks Illustrated and Saveur hold little interest for me anymore. Very, very rarely do I find recipes or stories that don't seem to be rehashed. I feel that after subscribing to some for almost 30 years they have a hard time putting a new spin on anything. I think in this instance, yes, I've become jaded.

Diners, Drive-ins, Dives, and Disgusting

You don't like the show, don't watch it! Nobody is making you. If you didn't like a political candidate, do you watch them?

Get over it. People love him, like him, tolerate him. That's life.

Best Breakfast Ever - Your Favorites

I absolutely adore Blackbird; the ambiance, the service, and the food. I have never had anything less than a stellar breakfast.

I've been more than 2 dozen times (!!).

The regular menu is incredible...the oxtail hash eggs beni is out of this world. Everything, and I mean everything, is freshly made, and the detail to even the smallest side is amazing.

Today I had a special of eggs scrambled with black trumpet mushrooms and a "soffrito" of ham, onion, and peppers. Served alongside was an amazing corn pudding that came out in 3 layers: they put a bit of squash puree in it, so the bottom was dense and sweet, the middle was creamy, and the top a crispy bit of corn bread. To bring it all together was a deeply seared broccoli raab with garlic.

Amazing!

A few weeks ago I had a special that was similar, though the scramble had smoked pork and chanterelles, with a side of potato and gruyere cake, and seared kale.

Yum!

Major Ramen craving

I'm excited about the Japanese Curry; no one serves it in the Twin Cities.

Blood Sausage - Served or For Sale.

Foureyes...sorry, but could you explain your comment? Didn't get it.

Stouts in Falcon heights

There are some reviews on Yelp if you want to check them out.

iPho By Saigon

I didn't notice what the new items were as I (boringly) usually just order the same items.

I forgot to add that through the month of February they have a special of "Buy 3 Bahn Mi, get 1 free."

Roman Anthony's...rather awful

I've eaten there 4 or 5 times, and the food has always been delicious, though I agree the service can be a little slow. That would never stop me from going back.

Authentic, fresh or innovative Mexican food?

Would you be specific on what you had and why you didn't like it?
