Any Fromagerie to recommend?

Thanks so much for sharing your opinions and the other cheese shops too.Much appreciated, can't wait to check some of them out =)

Any Fromagerie to recommend?

Hi,

A very last minute opportunity to travel to Paris just opened up, so I've only managed to do a quick search on where to buy cheese to cart back home. These are the 2 places that were recommended:
1) Fromagerie Laurent Dubois, Saint Germain
2) Le Bon Marche

Are they any good? Where else would you recommend to check out? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Also, on a side note, I read through some of the threads on must-try places to eat and they all sound wonderful. I'd really like to check some of them out when I have some free time on my own. Do these popular places accommodate single diners ?

Thanks

Hi,
I've heard Hash house being mentioned before as one place to check out while in Vegas. Are these two the same or do they refer to different places? Which would you recommend?
TIA

gordon ramsey, fifteen, murano

opps I should have made myself clearer, yep I'm aware fifteen is by Jamie Oliver. Have heard mixed reviews about this place so thought of seeking fellow chowhounders' opinion.

thanks PhilD and Paris Dreamin for replying. Goodness they all sound interesting.
Will try my luck but guess it might be hard to snag a reservation at RHR for next mth. Hmm... looks like I'll end up back at square one and go Maze in the end. Never experienced mordern British before anyway,

Hi there,

I was initially set on going Maze but am now wondering if I should check out his other restaurants instead like Restaurant Gordon Ramsey. Which do you think is better?

Also, is it worth checking out Fifteen and Murano?
Some feedback or opinion will be greatly appreciated. thanks

London. recommendations PLEASE

Yes will def be checking Maze out (and put all the other places down for consideration) after seeing how highly recommended it is. By the way how's Fifteen? Is it worth checking out?

Thanks for your suggestions guys. Ok back to the drawing board for now, will prob need more advice as the date draws nearer, Call me nuts but I'm planning my itinery/days around eating places instead of the other way around haha.

London. recommendations PLEASE

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to look for some great places to check out in London and feeling a little lost here, so advice will be greatly appreciated. Is there a separate forum for london alone? Sorry dont mean to appear lazy and not search, but there dont seem to be a list of must try places in London, instead I've mostly found rec for a certain type of cuisine or by location.

I'm lookig mainly for non-asian cusine (at the most we will prob have Curry or Indian food once), open to trying cheap places as well as michelin restaurants. Suggestions please.
Thanks

3 days in Paris

Is it true Les Papilles only has 1 fixed menu for dinner? As my parents don't take beef this might rule it out as a dinner option.
So I'm now thinking of shifting Les Papilles to lunch and Le Cinq to dinner. What do you guys think? If we have dinner at Le Cinq, what are the prices like for set menu?

Lastly, my dinner plans for 2 nights are still open. Besides Fish & CAJ, where else offer good value (read affordable) options. Frenchie?

so many choices so little time arrrghhhh!

3 days in Paris

hmm... guess I will give L'Atelier a miss. thanks souphie.
By the way, if I were to call these places up to make a reservation, would it be a problem if I don't speak french?

3 days in Paris

thanks everyone for your great advice, would like your input for one more place: L'atelier de joel robuchon. Wanted to try this when we were in tokyo but didnt manage to, should we check out his Paris's outlet ?

PhilD-- loved your volvo analogy, really apt =)

3 days in Paris

Hi everyone,

I'll be visiting Paris in Dec with my folks, but as we'll only be there for 3 days, I need some help in narrowing down places to eat as I hope to make the most of our 3 days there and treat my parents to some good food (not bank breaking though).
After reading thru previous posts, I have decided on the following:

Chez L'ami Jean (either for lunch or dinner. which is better? if for dinner what time is their sitting?)

Le Cinq and Guy Savoy (only have time for one of them, which would you pick?)

Les Papilles (can someone kindly enlighten wha's their operating hours/days? couldnt find info on their website and their email bounced)

Fish (still undecided, is it similar to the above in terms of cuisine?)

ok that's all i have for now are there others you would reccomend?
Also we might make a trip to La valle, are there any good places to check out or should we just have lunch in the city 1st?

Lastly, what do you think abt Alain ducasse's restaurants in Paris, his restaurant doesnt seem to be mentinoned often around here. is it worth checking out?

toshi yoroizuka

thanks for pointing this out Notorious P.I.G, wan't aware of this & I'll certainly be more careful in future.
So does anyone know anything about buying cakes from this place?

toshi yoroizuka

Hi,
During my research on this patissier, I read that you must order 1 day before you can go and pick up your cakes the next day. Is that true?
But as I don't understand Jap, how can I go about finding out abt the cakes available and place my order.
Can some kind soul please help enlighten me. thanks

ramen ranking

Hi everyone,
I'll be visiting tokyo in a few days and need some feedback regarding ramen places as I only have 2 days there. After some searching, it seems Ivan ramen and Ippudo are quite popular, what do you guys think. Or are there other places I should check out instead? please help =)

joel robuchon

thanks for your input Ninisix

joel robuchon

Hi,
Was just wondering which of its outlet would you guys recommend going? I'm a little confused, only know for the L'atelier it's more casual. but what about the ebisu outlet? there's La table and there's joel robuchon restaurant; which is better?
As I only have budget for one visit, which one would be the best pick?
