Looking for Rakija-hard
Anybody know where one can find Croatian rakija (preferably not just lozovaca or sljivovica) in the Bay Area? Running out of the stash I brought back from my trip and I'm having a pretty hard time locating any.
desperately seeking cast iron wok
yes, i've checked out the wok shop website and i am looking for a thick, heavy cast iron wok. I know they exist, as I had gotten one in NY chinatown. all the of the cast iron woks i've seen are super thin and light (defeats the purpose of cast iron). the thick, heavy material may not be a traditional chinese design, but one that I prefer nonetheless.
desperately seeking cast iron wok
well, I'm not sure how desperately, but everything I've seen both in Japantown and out in the Richmond are super light, thin aluminum.
can anybody recommend a place where I will be sure to find a cast iron wok?
Where can I get good challah bread in San Francisco???
Around Rosh Hashannah, I was able to get a challah baked by the Bread Workshop from the Country Cheese shop on Divis. It was awesome, and by far the best I've had since moving from NY. The store only does special orders for it around holiday time, but I'm not sure if the workshop makes challah regularly

Beef Kidney anyone?
any "real butcher" (i.e. Drewes in Noe) should be able to special order them for you.
Do you know where to get grass-fed veal in any restaurants in San Francisco/North Marin
a calf's diet has more to do with it's age than anything else. a calf slaughtered younger than 20 weeks will most likely be exclusively milk or formula fed, regardless of where it comes from. after 20 weeks, some producers start mixing in grain, hay and fodder. "pastured" veal will have some grass in it's diet if it is older than 20-24 weeks. 24+ week old animals are usually sold as "calf" and not "veal"
Day Trip Dinner
Any ideas for a nice place to end up for dinner after less than a 1.5 hour scenic (preferably coastal) drive from the city? Under $100 per person including wine would be good too.
