Antigua is like Disneyland no matter where you go so hard to avoid it. The further west you go, near the market, the more "local" it gets. As you venture out to those other places you'll get a better taste of Guat! Have a fun trip.

The fun of Antigua is finding your own discoveries- there are a lot of good restaurants all around. The best food will be found in steak houses, which are plentiful. Casa Escobar is in Antigua and very good. A few doors up is a smaller, less expensive one called Madre Tierra that is very good too. Bistro Cinq (5) is also great- not guat food, but good.

Meat sauces or rubs from LA?

I know its a terrible idea! Ha- I like the idea of tapping into the diversity we have here- since he lives in Indianapolis its about as vanilla as you can get. Korean is a great idea- but anything more specific?- carne asada? salsas? etc. Was even thinking Sriacha (which is made here). Do any restaurants or local shops here have anything that you like?

Meat sauces or rubs from LA?

My colleagues from around the US are gifting my boss with a meat market gift card (for a local place near him) and we're all tasked with sending in a local "sauce or rub" from our Region. Most will be sending in bbq sauces so I wanted to be a little different and pick something that is truly a unique LA entry. Any ideas would be welcomed!!

Any suggestions for a place to hold conference dinner in November (30-50 people, conference in marina del rey)

Depending on how fancy you want to go... a more casual (fun) spot is C&O Trattoria. I just took a group there after a biz meeting- its great. Huge portions, wine by the "honor system" italian style, passed garlic knots, and singing in the room. They have 2 locations because of their popularity- one near the beach and one about 1/2 a mile away-
