Midtown East (staying at Elysee). Walk to dinner.

Makes sense. I'm looking at the downtown board and some others too.

Thanks.

Midtown East (staying at Elysee). Walk to dinner.

Thanks everyone. To clarify, the wanting to walk part isn't about expense, it's just a preference. Upon reflection, we will add one cab ride restaurant to the mix for one night.

Again, I really appreciate the input.

Midtown East (staying at Elysee). Walk to dinner.

We will stay 3 nights in February (not valentine's) at the Elysee.

We'd like to walk to dinner and have one Italian, one "best" and one semi-casual.

Price won't be a factor.

Ideas with hotel being on east 54th between Park and Madison.

Lunch ideas would be great too.

Thanks.

Lake Zurich/Barrington, IL - restaurants?

Hi:

I accidentally posted this on the Kosher board, so I am re-posting here.

We will be in the Lake Zurich/Barrington area for a Friday-Sunday stay in January and are looking for Fri and Sat dinner and lunch recommendations.

We'd like a nice (but upscale casual) Italian place, maybe a good Steakhouse type, and something great for lunch.

I know this area is about 40 minutes (ish) from Chicago.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The word on the street is that dining reservations in the eye of the Boston area Grad storm need to be secured soon.

We will be staying at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. It would be wonderful to walk to dinner, but a short cab ride is OK.

We will be a group of 8. We love great Italian and wonderful ambience (one idea). We will also be looking for a wonderful wine list.

Price will not be an obstacle.

If you have any recommendations that aren't Italian (but we're not extremely "foodie" as a group), I'm open to those too.

A wonderful dining room and special atmosphere would be wonderful. A gal only graduates once!

Thanks!

Edinburgh and St. Andrew's lunch and dinner.

Thanks. I think I am going to go with Martin Wishart for one dinner (your description of relaxed and classic cooking sold me. It's now appeared on multiple lists. I think I did find the St. Andrew's thread. Thanks again.

Edinburgh and St. Andrew's lunch and dinner.

I will be visiting Scotland in October 2011. I will be in Edinburgh for 2 days (alone) and then on to St. Andrew's to meet up with my daughter who is studying at St. Andrew's, then back to Edinburgh with her.

My questions are:

1). upscale casual (goofy description, sorry) places for me in Edinburgh for lunch and early dinner by myself.

2). Input on the dining options at Old Course Hotel (where we're staying for 3 nights) and/or in St. Andrews.

3). Your recommendations in Edinburgh when she and I are together for lunch and dinner.

I'd like one "show stopper" dinner in both St. Andrew's and Edinburgh (both with her). Our other choices will be hopefully not as expensive as our big dinner, but I'm happy to not be too cost conscious.

Thanks for your ideas!

Staying at Biltmore in April- 2 nights off property?

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! I am happily checking these all out online. Wish ChowHound had existed when we starting going farther afield years ago. I was flying blind back in the day!

Cheers.

Staying at Biltmore in April- 2 nights off property?

Thanks. The happy hour suggestion might be a fun idea for an early evening. I will investigate City Hall too. Price will be OK. I just wanted to stay away from dinner for 2 being $500.

Staying at Biltmore in April- 2 nights off property?

We will be staying at the AZ Biltmore in April and have 2 nights to go off property for dinner. We'd like to be within 10-15 minutes of the hotel. WE'd love one Italian suggestion and one "whatever" be it steakhouse/sushi/contemporary american (lame description). Spending less would be swell too.

Dinner for 2 (alchol not included) in the $100-$150 range is the upper end of what we'd like to do. Atmosphere is important to us, and I know there will be some great food we might miss because of it.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Walking distance of Hilton-Ave of America's?

HI:

We have 2 nights in Oct (a Sat and Sun). We would love recommendations of restaurants within walking distance (10-15 min walk) of the Hilton on Avenue of the America's near MOMA.

For Saturday night, price is no obstacle. Sunday, it would be nice for something not too formal or pricey.

We love Italian, French, contemporary American (sorry, that is probably vague). We are not huge on seafood and think it's a treat to sit in a beautiful space too (coming from the Midwest).

Anyway, Alto, Eleven Madison Park are on my list-haven't figured out distance.

Thanks!
