Dinner in Grand Central area

Second Avra Estiatorio!

Dim Sum in Chinatown

Nom Wah Tea Parlor and Jing Fong are great spots for Dim Sum. I also recommend just walking around Chinatown and grabbing the 5 for $1 dumplings and stopping by Fay Day for great pork buns and other baked goods. Going to Jade Dim Sum in Flushing is a good idea too. Enjoy!

Spina

I was here recently on a Saturday night and by 8PM the entire place was packed.

Lunch on 42nd street/43rd street

I work in Times Square and a friend of mine works on 42nd & 3rd Ave. We're looking to meet somewhere for lunch on Friday that is half way (ish) between the two of us. Does anyone have an idea? Nothing fancy, just lunch for two friends.

Thanks :)

9th Avenue near Theatre District?

I agree- Marseille is wonderful. I usually take my parents there before we go to see a show.

Gramercy lunch places for Grandma

We live right near 23rd and 3rd Ave. Grandma is 86 and with the heat we really don't want her walking more than a block or two.

Gramercy lunch places for Grandma

My husband and I live in Gramercy and my grandma will be in town the first week of August for a visit. We would like to take her somewhere for lunch (nothing too fancy, just good food) nearby in Gramercy so she doesn't have to walk far from our apartment. Any ideas on good places?

Thanks!

Vine Street Cafe- Dress Code

Hi Everyone,

We'll be going to the Vine Street Cafe this Saturday night for dinner and was wondering what the dress code is there. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Sag Harbor/East Hampton- Birthday Dinner

Thanks! We would drive to East Hampton as well if anyone has recommendations for there.

Sag Harbor/East Hampton- Birthday Dinner

My husband and I are heading out to Sag Harbor for the weekend and I was looking to see if anyone knew of a good dinner spot to celebrate my birthday. Something with great food, romantic, maybe outdoor seating. Just an overall solid place would be perfect. Looking to spend max of $200 on the meal.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Good Lunch Place for Mom

Nothing too fancy- maybe $100 max for the both of us. Just looking for a nice brunch (a few drinks) and a quiet atmosphere to talk.

Good Lunch Place for Mom

I'm doing a shopping day with my mom this coming Saturday and am looking for some nice mother/daughter lunch ideas on the upper west side (near Loehmann's) or down by Lord & Taylor (5th and 39th). Any ideas would be great.

Thanks!

Best Mexican food in NYC

I just had Downtown Bakery last night. The chicken mole burrito is my absolute favorite. The chorizo burrito is great too.

Brunch with parents & in-laws

Great idea. Thank you!

Brunch with parents & in-laws

My husband and I have two brunch dates on the calendar to get both of our families together. Does anyone have some nice Sunday brunch ideas around the Gramercy area? Nothing too fancy, just a nice relaxed place. Nothing too loud.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Birthday Dinner for Husband

I have a reservation at Commerce, Lupa, and Scarpetta for my husband's birthday next month. I know he loves Scarpetta so I made a reservation there. What do you guys think about Commerce and Lupa? I'm having a tough time deciding. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Convivio: stick with the pasta?

When we go to Convivo we do their $62 prix-fixe but instead of doing an pasta and a main we do pasta for 2 of the courses. I'm a huge fan of the Cicatelli al Forno and the Malloreddus. My husband loves the Maccheroni alla Carbonara and the fusilli. The fegatini appetizer is also amazing- I love the caramelized onions that are on it. Also the testa is great.

Make sure to get a side of the pecornio potatoes- they are fabulous! Have a great time!!

Almond, a bistro in the East 20s.

We went for dinner a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. Definitely a little noisy but they had some interesting stuff. The short ribs and the scallops were very good. For dessert, you really can't go wrong with a nutella waffle.

Need recs for a fantastic restaurant for boyfriend's Birthday this Saturday....

I agree- Convivo is fabulous! My husband and I go all the time for special occasions.

quiet, not too pricey italian, downtown

What about Spina on B and 11th?

Quiet Downtown neighborhoody restaurants

My husband and I really enjoy Spina in the East Village. The owner is very friendly, the service great, and the pasta homemade. They also have a nice wine list. The prices are pretty reasonable too!

Thank you! That was very helpful.

Food Itinerary for New Orleans Trip in October

Do you all think that August is New Orleans' best NO food or just the best restaurant in New Orleans? Is it something we can't find in NYC?

Did you have the degustation menu at August?

Food Itinerary for New Orleans Trip in October

Thanks! Does anyone have an opinion/advice on August versus Stella! for a nice dinner? Or any other suggestions for a great upscale meal with NO influences?

Food Itinerary for New Orleans Trip in October

My husband and I will be traveling to New Orleans in October and would like to know your thoughts on our dining itinerary. We are having difficulty deciding on a fine dining restaurant for Friday night that has a great atmosphere an excellent creole/new Orleans cuisine. Living in NYC we have plenty of nice restaurants so when we're in New Orleans we're trying to make sure that all meals are regional specialties. I've read some of the threads already on this board so any new insights would be great! Thanks in advance!!
