Tampa Bay: Single diner home from Afghanistan SKS Beer, Beach and Seafood.

I should also mention that as I will be looking for an Apartment when I get back, so I will also be eyeing the surrounding area for living as well. You should always live where a bar is handy!

Tampa Bay: Single diner home from Afghanistan SKS Beer, Beach and Seafood.

I have been deployed working in Afghanistan for the last year and I will be back in the Tampa area in mid July. I have a carefully crafted agenda for decompressing:

Beer, Gulf Beach, Beer, Good seafood, Beer, Gulf Beach, More Seafood, more beer, Sleep, repeat.

I already know the Crabby bills reputation, (I was born and raised in St. Pete, from back when Silas Dent’s upstairs bar was where you hammered kamakasi shots and ate .10 cent oysters. That was *mumble* *mumble* years ago). But, alas other than CB’s, where from Clearwater Beach south can I sit on/near the beach, eat my oysters and enjoy my frosty adult beverage? Suggests please.

Thanks!

Menu Changes at the Venue

I went to The Venue in Clearwater (Just over the bridge on Ulmerton) yesterday with a friend for some drinks and some Tapas.

Tapa-what? The bartender at the outside bar told me they eliminated most of the Tapas items and are trying be more of a steak and chop sort of place (The sushi bar remains unchanged though). While there are a few average appetizers on the menus under tapas, it has mostly been eliminated.

Don't get me wrong, The Venue has never been accused of having food that rises above the ordinary. So the elimination of most of the Tapas menu is more of an inconvenience rather than a tragedy (Its just down my street, so convenient and I like the variety you can get between two or more people with a Tapas style menu).

So if you are headed that direction for any Tapas items you liked before, they may be missing.

Cheers,
Mark

Any Yakitori, Yakiniku, Izikiya and great Iraqi / Iranian / Middle-eastern in Tampa Bay, Florida?

Hello Folks-

I recently moved here from San Francisco and wanted to take my parents to some some of the kinds of places I went to there.

Are there any of the kinds of places I mentioned above? I love a good yakitori place in general, but they are strangly rare in the states. Most i know in the US are very popular, sad they are not more common. Yakiniku, and the Korean version (that I dont know the proper name of) would be a lot of fun for them as well.

Also, I was deployed to Iraq for a time, and had a lot of opportunity for home cooking there, and would love for them to try some, of something like it that culturally similar..

Any ideas?
Thanks.
