Roti Lunch/Dinner Marais?

I need to take someone out to a sit down restaurant/cafe/bistro whatever for a decent chicken roti and fries. Yes; street vendors and markets may be better but I need a table situation. In the Marais. Also; anyone recommend an especiqlly decent tarte tartine eat in/take out in the area?
Thanks.

Reasonable chicken?

ok, l'ami Louis is hideously overpriced. Can the board suggest a few reasonably priced establishments that serve traditional French roast chicken (and satisfactory pomme frites)? Thanks!

London on a Budget

My wife and I will be spending the first part of December in London, for the first time. While we're no stranger to fine cuisine we're a) coming from a gourmet heaven (Los Angeles) and b) will be on a limited budget. So we're looking for local ingredients and cuisines, not at the highest end. Good pub food perhaps. Or, if not chicken tikka the way it's done over there, the way it's been interpreted in London and taken into the national cuisine. Also: I'm curious to know if anyone has anything to say about traditional and/or interesting kosher restaurants, either milk or meat. And thanks.

Drinking in the Marais?

Let me add: how about good general neighborhood bars. Ok, they guy isn't a mixologist but the atmosphere is welcoming, de la bier. Once again, around the Marais.

Drinking in the Marais?

Any recommendations for a convivial drinking establishment for a serious drinker in or around the Marais? I could care less if Hemingway sat at the bar. I care very much that the bartender knows what a dry martini ought to be.

Help for Visiting 20s: A High Standard of Ordinary?

John Talbot: Are these the restaurants you're referring to:
Venise: Le Venise 5 Rue Ordener
L'Entrecote: Le Relais de Venise - L'EntrecĂ´te 271, Boulevard Pereire Sud,

Bit confusing.

Help for Visiting 20s: A High Standard of Ordinary?

John Talbot:
We're staying in the Marais (and I understand the falafel place to be a definite). When you recommend Venise or L'Entrecote are you think steak fries? Is there a Belgian frites place-they're very big on frites. Can't find one on Chow or on line. And BTW San Diego is nice and allow me to recommend there some of the best bread ever and the best schinkenspeck you've ever had).

Why Paris if they're not big eaters? One is an IT specialist at NYU and the other studying natural resources at Edinburgh and neither thinks of food as cuisine but rather as resource. Who's to say what the right track may be? And, food aside, Paris is still Paris.

Help for Visiting 20s: A High Standard of Ordinary?

I'll be in Paris over the Xmas and New Year's holidays with my two offstring. Both in their 20s and neither are familiar with, nor enthoused by French food. Can anyone suggest bars/restaurants/brasseries etc. etc. with good or interesting food, and either menu items or a la carte to -ahem- young American tastes? We're talking here things like *french fries*, (frittes perhaps?), student type dishes, and, er, pizza. Maybe just some good university type places. Whatever, all suggestions welcomed.

Monterey/Carmel Dining Choices

I love Monterey. It's beautiful. And the food there is almost without exception TERRIBLE, from the syrupy calm chowder (what is Ghod's name is fascination with serving it inside bread?!?) to the faux calimari. HAS ANYONE HAD A DECENT--NOT TO SAY--INTERESTING MEAL IN Monterey???? I ask because we're going up this thanksgiving for dinner at the Big Sur Bakery which hands down has the best food in the area.

Good Japanese?

I'm looking to take some friends out to dinner for Japanese while in Toronto. Preferably some place with a sense for good local sushi/sashimi. Coming from California, a center of Japanese cuisine (with fresh fish from Japan), I'm not looking to compare. But I'd appreciate a recommendation of place(s) that will not be disappointing. Thanks!
