Matouk's Calypso Hot Sauce

I know Boswell’s Jamaican Restaurant on Tulane Ave has a couple different Matouk’s sauces - I don’t remember specifically seeing Calypso, but they had a couple different sauces from Matouks.

Check back by the kitchen they sell a few different Caribbean ingredients.

Matouks is the best Caribbean Hot Sauce!!! Hope this helps…

Toups Meatery – Fantastic

I have been looking forward to dinning at Toups since I first heard it was going to open, and finally was able to take the family there last night. The entire dining experience was incredible – from the friendly staff to the wonderful food.

Started out with very well crafted drinks, and was told a drink menu was in the works. Then was recommended by the staff to get the crawfish stuffed artichoke – very good and packed with a crawfish stuffing and served with a clarified butter to dip in.

I then ordered the double cut pork chop which was glazed with cane syrup and served on top of dirty rice. This was by far the best pork chop I have ever had, and I loved the dirty rice.

My wife and daughter split the cafe brulot glazed spare ribs, which was served with various vegetable all covered in the café brulot glaze, and the two bites I managed to get were excellent.

My daughter (5 year old) ate all the vegetables without us telling her to!!!!!!

We then spilt the bacon and caramel doberge cake. Yes bacon and caramel and absolutely unreal.

I can’t wait to go back, as I want to try the entire menu, and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Is Casamentos open yet for the season?

Midcity,

I have no update on if P&J is closed, but I talked with my brother on the way to work, and told him I wanted to come in for some oyster at happy hour. He told me they are not getting P&J’s oysters and the oysters are coming from Fla.

I will be going to Casamentos this weekend and will give an update.

Is Casamentos open yet for the season?

They might have this problem at a few restaurants.

After we tried Casamentos we headed down to Mahoney’s for a po-boy and there jumbo shrimp and oyster po-boys are now listed a market price. I do not recall the prices but I think they went up 4 or 5 bucks.

I still went w/ the grilled shrimp & green tomato remoulade & it was great as usual.

My brother works at Luke & said they are getting PJ’s oysters there.

I guess it’s just a difficult time for all. I am hopeful things just get back to normal.

Is Casamentos open yet for the season?

Thanks for the info; I knew I could get some updates on here. I only live a couple of blocks away so I will keep a close eye on when they are open & let people know.

I need my Casamentos fix bad, and have been waiting all summer!!!!

Is Casamentos open yet for the season?

I drove past Casamentos last night thinking that it was opened back up for the season, but it looked closed. The sign on the window said it was going to open on 9/14/2010, but I have yet to see it open.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Why the Anti Antoines bias on the forum?

I went to Antoines for the first time in May, & had a great meal with 2 of my friends. I am sorry that other people are having bad experiences, but I would recommend this place to people from my dining experience.

We went & had a drink @ the bar. The bar was lively with lots of people mingling, drinking, & all around having a good time. We had so much fun at the bar talking to all the great people in there that we had a couple after dinners drinks in the bar as well.

I thought the food was great and service was very good. The meal distinctly sticks out in my mind we ordered the (I had to look at the menu b/c I couldn’t remember the names) Huitres en coquille a la Rockefeller, Escargots a la Bourguignonne, Chateaubriand, Filet de truite Pontchartrain. Cerises jubilee.

Crazy Oysters 3 Part Question

I have been to Pascals Manale’s & their BBQ shrimp are great!!! You also have to go to the oyster bar @ Pascals it is a good time as well. The guys shucking the oysters are very friendly. I would go in 30 min before you eat & get a drink at the bar & belly up to the oyster bar for some great oysters. They also have a very good veal marsala that my wife ordered

I have never been to Casamentos, but have heard good things about this place & will definitely be going there my next trip. I also don’t know anything about your hotel. The only thing I care about is if it is clean & in a good location. I never spend too much time in my hotel in NOLA anyways. There is too much to do.

Wish I was going!!!
