How to eat healthy as a picky adult

If there are a variety of sizes available, all things being equal, she should pick smaller rather than larger. Underripe or poorly grown would be a real turnoff.

How to eat healthy as a picky adult

And buy the smallest vegetables you see. If your supermarket has a salad bar, use it to try different vegetables. Yes, they're more expensive, but there's less waste. You don't want to be trapped by a gigantic cauliflower and feel bad and stupid when you throw most of it out.
Are there cooking classes anywhere near you? They can help.

Living Butter Lettuce - can this be done at home??

After cutting the lettuce off and eating it, my mother used to plant the roots in a pot with dirt and would get a couple more heads off it. You need to be careful not to cut into the growing tip when you remove the mature leaves, and the transition to dirt is not always easy.

What is the best way to invite guests online to casual gatherings at your home? Evite, Facebook, or some other way?

I've used Paperless Post with some improvement in responses. Mostly they came in very late, but at least I had time to get out some more glassware and fluff up the food.

Oyster knife and glove issue

Howard Mitcham, in one of his Cape Cod cookbooks, shows how to use a beer can opener to break the oyster's hinge. Kevlar not needed. If I can find the directions upstairs, I'll post them shortly.

What exactly do the spices cardamom and coriander taste like?

Well, I brought a cardamom-flavored coffee cake to work one day, and a colleague told me it tasted like mouthwash. You really need to taste it for yourself.

What cookbooks have you bought lately, or are you lusting after? Happy New Year January 2015 edition!

One of the first used books I bought online had significant page loss by the time it got to me. Since then, I haven't had any problems, although I'm now careful to check the book.

Foods of the late 1970s

For vegetarians of the times, lots of eggs and cheese were essential to provide what was believed to be enough protein. I participated in a vegetarian pot luck at the time, and I have never seen as many eggs served as I did that day.

Help me choose a rice cooker

Look at Beth Hensperger's Rice Cooker cookbook. She's gone through a lot of recipes and a lot of rice cookers and come to some conclusions about which cooker works best for some preparations.

My mother swore by Lawry's seasoned salt. I'm abstaining, however. (Northeast)

Beef bourguignon too sweet. How would you have tried to salvage it?

Or add prunes and olives and call it Beef Marbella.

Feh. And I don't keep the dough warm either. So there.

It's quite amazing the variety of experiences possible.

Favorite Recipes from The Savory Way by Deborah Madison?

My favorite, in addition to the cucumber mousse, is the bean and corn soup that has all the charm of library paste until you swirl in an herb mixture that lifts it to the heavens. A terrific cookbook.

Voting thread: Cookbook of the Month January 2015

I don't think it's frozen. It's cooked and in the meat section. A little more cooking won't hurt it.

Removing label stickers

A little oil applied over the labels and left to sit a bit should start softening the adhesive. Then a plastic scrubbee will deal with the mess.
