Have 4 bags of Red Mill dried Fava Beans and need some ideas

This is another delicious stew: http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/... and there's a similar one in Diana Kennedy's Recipes from the Regional Cooks of Mexico, p. 19.

My, how could that taste so awful?

Campbell's Heart Healthy Cream of Mushroom soup. A teaspoon was more than enough to decide it was inedible. I have no idea how it got in my shopping cart, and I have become a lot more vigilant since.

Probably the same people that create packaging issues at Trader Joe's, where the package is empty before you've hardly begun.

Is it safe to let my chicken stock simmer on the stove overnight while I sleep?

On the stove? In the oven? In a crockpot? Are your smoke detector batteries ok?

ISO: pâté & terrine cookbook

I love American Charcuterie. Another good book is Jane Grigson's Charcuterie and French Pork Cookery.

Trader Joe's YAY/MEH/NAY Thread - March 2015 [Old]

The preserved lemon slices are discussed further up in this thread. Rinse and chop the peel for a salty lemony punch to many things (potato salad). They're used extensively in Moroccan cooking.

I am a terrible cook!

Mujadra looks as if it is about as yummy as library paste, but it's absolutely delicious in its many variations.

Is this a mortar and pestle?

A couple of years ago, I saw some poi pounders on Antiques Roadshow which resemble the pestle part, but there was no accompanying vessel.

The Parsiburgers are terrific.

Re-use marinated feta marinade?

Well, no. Air doesn't promote all bacterial growth. There's an unpleasant bunch of bacteria, including the botulism bacterium, that grows without air. That's of concern here.

11 year old foodie allergic to shellfish

11 year old foodie allergic to shellfish

If she's allergic to fin fish as well as shell fish, you need a more inclusive word than "shellfish" to describe the problem. "Seafood" might do it.

Pumpkin bread with 1 whole can of pumpkin?

This calls for one of the smaller cans of pumpkin and is very good:

Just what IS Cincinnati Chili?

I think the only connection between Texas chili and Cincinnati chili is the word chili. Different origins for each.

Does anyone love their slow cooker?

I've used mine at holidays to keep mashed potatoes warm. I've also made "roasted" garlic in it which has many applications. Mostly I like it to cook beans in it, but also occasionally for stews or soups. I don't use it as a set and forget, and abandon it for big parts of the day.
