Kosher Gin
All gin is flavored, primarily with juniper berries, but with other botanicals as well - including (frequently) citurs peels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gin
In that regard, Tanqueray Rangpur is no different than any "plain" gin, such as Beefeater, Hendrick's or Seagram's.
Paris for the food
The falafel there is a great quick snack. Sadly, David now thinks Maoz (which is kosher in DC, and perhaps elswhere) is better.

Paris for the food
My wife and I had a very nice shabbat dinner at Les Ailes when we visited Paris - but it's not close to the Marais, 2probably -3 miles. If you arent up for the walk, I recommend shopping in the Marais before shabbat. There are numerous stores and butcher shops that sell prepared foods. Maison David on Rue Des Ecouffes, has fantastic cured sausages, smoked duck breast, and taramasalata. Wine and challah are also readily available in the Marais. If your hotel has courtyard, or eruv does not concern you, take out options make for a lovely picnic.
Kosher in Paris deliberation
Where did you end up going? I've been to Osmose and loved it, but would like to hear about the others.
Fernet Branca
I've never had fernet, and I'm not lookign to acquire any more bottles for my bar right now. What's a more suitable sub, Cinzano Rosse or yellow chartreuse?
Periodista questions
Has anyone tried the R&W liqueurs other than Violette and Apricot? How are they?
London and Belgium
I'm heading to London and Belgium this summer. Any tips for kosher food in those locations?
What's up with Charbay Vodka?
Hey Anne,
Glad you stocked up again. This month's bon appetit magazine has a recipe for a grapefruit gimlet using the charbay vodka. It might be worth a try.

lillet blanc
That's a more complicated discussion than I'm willing to get into on chowhound. google it.
lillet blanc
To clarify, kosher grape products do exist, but they are harder to find. For instance, I can get kosher fino sherry, but I can't get kosher vermouth, so I only make fino martinis.
lillet blanc
As the OP...you mentioned sherry-like sake as a potential sub. Do you think fino sherry would do? Is that too dry?
lillet blanc
Yes, that is why Vermouth requires rabbinic certification to be considered kosher.

You don't need a list, you just need to keep one rule in mind:
Alcoholic beverages are considered kosher, without rabbinic certification, as long as they do not contain grapes. Products containing grapes require rabbinic certification.
Corn Whiskey - Who Drinks This Stuff?
I've also had the Old Gristmill Corne Whiskey. I though it was excellent. Like getting tipsy from popcorn.
What's up with Charbay Vodka?
Charbay uses corn and rye. http://charbay.com/category.aspx?categoryID=638
lillet blanc
Any suggestions on what I can use in a cocktail in place of lillet blanc?
Chipotle Peppers
Great with steak, or as a dressing for a mixed bean/corn/tomato salad.
Chipotle Peppers
Goya brand chipotles in adobo have certification (vaad of Mexico Citry, I think). Also, they are delicious. Put them in a blender with vinager, oil, salt, and honey, and blend until emulsified.
What's up with Charbay Vodka?
I've actually never had any Hangar One vodkas, though I did but a bottle of Hangar One Spiced Pear last night. (Coincidentally, the liquor store I was in had a bottle of Charbay Blood Orange).
Given some of the videos on YouTube from Hangar One, I would assume that the Mandarin Blossom leans toward the floral. I use middle eastern orange blossom water in many dishes. It has a very perfumey quality. I assume orange blossom vodka has a similar profile.
I'm really just getting into flavored vodkas, but I've only purchased pear so far.
Any favorite cocktail recipes for flavored vodkas?
Interesting Scotch Recommendations
If you haven't been to the Round Robin bar at the Willard, I highly recommend it. Great Scotch collection.
Interesting Scotch Recommendations
I haven't had the Cragganmroe Distiller's Edition, but I've had the 12 year and the Signature Series 11 year, and I really like them both. They seemed smooth as smooth can be and not the least bit lacking in flavor. Got any recommendations for a Cragganmore lover?
What's up with Charbay Vodka?
In the meantime, have you tried some of the hangar one flavored vodkas?
Kosher Agave Syrup
It is not a suitable corn syrup subsitute. It is MUCH sweeter than corn syrup with a much runnier consistency.
What's up with Charbay Vodka?
I've seen both in the DC area recently. Must be a local problem.
Tips for using an unglazed tagine (split from San Francisco Bay Area board)
Thanks for the info on seasoning. What about cooking? Stovetop? Oven?
