New Orleans Wine & Food Experience
I'd love to hear some thoughts about the upcoming NOWFE Event - May 25-29 2010. What events are not to miss? Is is really and all you can eat and drink affair?!?!
Thanks!
Any Le Floret Love?
I really like it....menu is delicious...snapper and ceal are two highlights....beautiful place too...
Jan Anniversary Trip - any suggestions for improvement
No NOLA, and No Acme.
Instead: Emeril's or Mr. B's and Felix's (across the street from Acme) or Luke's Oysters.
How is this for a proposed itinerary for 15th wedding annvy
I agree with most of what's been written. I suppose you just wanna stick to downtown and the quarter, but my answers:
Mr. B's - good lunch, and the BBQ are one of the best in the city.
PoBoys - Quarter Master or Verdi Mart (Dey dirty, but good)
No Dragos or Acme - If you want oysters, Travel to Pascal Manale's and go see Thomas
I hear Napolean house has a good PoBoy too
Luke is great for their oyster happy hour, i love this spot for lunch, its casual and the atmosphere is better during the day.
Mothers - don't do it
Always choose Du Monde, unless you in the suburbs and then you goto morning call. But no one else
*Gautreau's, Clancy's Patois are some uptown Gems that are working the cab fare.
NOLA to DC
Yeah....we coming to watch the Saints and the Redskins battle it out (i'm being nice so I can get honest advice). Ive never been to DC, but I work for a wine and food festival in new orleans and need some assistance please. (we are staying at the Ritz and in our late 20's if that helps)
I need a Saturday night popular, but good, dinner spot and drinks.
Sunday after the game dinner, nothing to fancy.
Monday nice lunch, and Monday night fine dining.
THX!
Edible Picture Cake?
Does anyone know a bakery in the New Orleans area that can do a picture cake?
Thanks!
Looking for the best roast beef po boy in the FQ.....
Honestly....Verdi Mart has it going on....or quartermasters.....and if your feeling adventurous....go to corner of elysian and St. Claude
Dining on Esplanade Ave. - suggestions?
Cafe Degas, Lola's are the best two restaurants actually on esplanade. Po-boys and such hit Liuzza's by the track....
and I would not walk too far from your spot to anywhere after dark
Grocery store souvenirs
Mosca's Chicken Grande Sauce - it comes in a jar
Sal & Judy's Sauce
NYE vacation: advice on choices made?
I would not do Muriels....there are so many other options.
Degas is great but i would stick in Cochon or Luke
haha "healthy"
u better stick with seafood!
Restaurant recomendations for a New Orleans First Timer.

crawfish help needed
Yeah...I'm not a fan of all those variations...the package actually has a recipe...and I usually doctor that up...but i keep it simple.
But what your looking for is the liquid crab boil http://www.cajungrocer.com/zatarains-concentrated-shrimp-crab-boil-p-596.html.
Once you've got your roux going and you add your tails in...put a drop or two in(careful this is concentrate so literally a drop then season to taste). it gives it that extra kick...like when your lips tingle from eating bolied crawfish...
crawfish help needed
whatever you do don't buy frozen
if you don't wanna peel them yourself
go to dorignac's - read the label and make sure you are getting the right ones - no china
also - hot tip - add tiny amt of crab boil - trust
Salad - lunch spots?
I just had a killer salad at Luke - John Besh's new place. Think it was $11 or $12 and it had at least 6 fried oysters on it! It was the best...competing with Jacquemos (forgive my spelling on that)

Recs for FQ and City Park Area
I second Venezia - they have pretty darn good pizza there.
Ralph's on the Park - is beautiful and before the Oaks could be a nice dinner for family.
Best Place for New Year's Eve?
oops...so sorry...was thinking about the view.
If you want to be by the action and all the amazing music give Marigny Brasserie a try. Its nice but low key.
Also Tip's always has a good show on New Years...you could do Dick & Jenny's right there.
Another could be Carmelo's - the food is pretty basic italian but they have a balcony that will allow you to view the fireworks.
Good, not pricey place for a group of 7?
I agree with Cochon
Also think abt Clancy's
Best Place for New Year's Eve?
Thats a low budget for anything festive.
If you want view with the fireworks - Bella Luna - you could go a little over budget tho...check their prices on the site www.bellalunarestaurant.com
Marigny Brasserie could be an option - Frenchmen is the place to be on NY's

Luckily i will never have to only have one meal in New Orleans!!!
Because I could never choose.
I guess though - August or Gautreau's
I got nothing against Brightsen's - but it has just never been a place that my circle was ever really was hyped about. I will try to change that though - will go again soon.
Rec for Veg Mom - Union Squareish

Mila has been getting rave reviews on this site...check it
Also Cochon is a big hit as well
Other than that I would say Luke, everyone in town i talk to say its excellent but the reviews on here have been negative about the service mostly.
Those are the ones I would hit since you mentioned Lilette
