Hot Wings in Montreal
This is a sad thread and there isn't much else that I can find on wings in Montreal. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'll happily take either strict quality or value recommendations. Does anyone know of any weekly wing specials? I've got a serious hankering for some hot wings...
Where did you eat this week ?
here's my weeks roundup: monday lunch: antep kebab for chicken sandwich - delicious but not as good as the lamb (though cheaper) and i wish it was a little bigger. monday dinner: roi du plateau for chicken - good but not as good value as romandos which isn't serving chicken due to renovations. tuesday lunch: cuisine bangkok for bomb beef pad thai. wednesday lunch: porchetta sandwich from Santangelo's - decent sandwich but didn't knock my socks off; at $7.50 it could have had more pork, less bread. thursday dinner: resevoir - had cod fritters which were great but mayo could have had a little more pop; some pickled octopus with mint/feta/watermelon salad which didn't really work; gaspacho and chevre terrine (huge chevre terrine) that was good but a little too heavy on the mint; seared tuna with some kind of bacon-y, mushroom-y; root vegetable-y sauce - both elements were delicious but tuna got lost in the sauce. would not hesitate to go back to resevoir, but this menu seemed a little too ambitious and/or poorly conceived.

Hi,
I'm a new arrival in Montreal - starting at McGill law school this week. I would like to compile a list of inexpensive, good-value restaurants within easy lunchtime biking distance of McGill's downtown campus. I expect I will both poor and busy for the next few years, so price and convenience will be paramount concerns. Though this is my first Montreal post, I have been reading a lot of your recommendations and have already tried several restaurants with great success. To get the ball rolling, I'll start with 3 downtown(ish) restaurants I have tried that meet my criteria:
1. La Maison du Nord - I had the pork sandwich and tend to agree with the prevailing notion that the pancake was perhaps a little too heavy, but I wouldn't hesitate to eat it again and I'm excited to try the dumplings.
2. Cuisine Bangkok - I was a little sceptical when I found it in a food court but was really impressed by the chicken pad thai and saw dozens of other things on the menu that looked interesting.
3. Schwartzes - I will be a regular...
Other things I would be interested to find include but are not limited to: sandwiches, kebab/shwarma/falafel, chinese bbq, burgers, wings, pho...
If you have any other recommendations that would be helpful for a student (coffee, for instance), they would be appreciated.
