9/11 Memorial on Saturday

I am visiting the 9/11 Memorial on Saturday afternoon and am looking for some lunch time recs within a half hour area or short cab ride. All prices and cuisines are possible, from casual to sit down and inexpensive to pricey. I have around 1 1/2 hours to get lunch around 11:30 to 1:30.

Thanks in advance.

Does Fairway cut the Parmiggiano Reggiano from the block or is it precut?

Brioche Rolls

Where would I find some killer brioche rolls, anywhere in Manhattan. I now buy Zabar's, but I feel like there should be better brioche rolls in the city. KIA

Al Forno in Providence

I will be going to dinnner to Al Forno. What's best to order? I know they are known for grilled pizza, but what else is good. And, the dessert list looks extensive. What to order? I will be going with a group of 6+ so I will make a reservation in advance. TIA.

Decadent Chocolate Saturdays at the Langham Hotel, Boston: What's your feedback?

I went to the Le Meridien event years ago and was impressed with it at the time, with all the different varieties. I have since sampled on a regular basis, at the New York Chocolate Show, great chocolate and don't think it would measure up to what I have been sampling the last several years. I remember having 4-5 full desserts, being very full with sugar, and the price at that time was around $30, so worth it at the time. So, I cannot recommend it at this time. For me right now, chocolate is not about sugar, but about the chocolate itself, whether semi sweet of bittersweet or not sweet at all.

I will be visiting the USS Intrepid for the day on Saturday, May 28th. Are there any good restaurants nearby or within a few miles that are worth checking out? I would like to be at lunch around noontime. I don't mind walking, taking a cab or bus, as I do all three! TIA.

Thank you all so very much for the suggestions! I will be coming in with a group and dropped off and picked up near Charles Street near the foot of Beacon Hill. I am aware of all of the traffic and I think it is so worth it to see the Pops! I love Keith Lockhart and I am so looking forward to the 4th! Coming to Boston for the 4th of July is my dream come true!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will be arriving @ noon to try to get a spot and spend the day on the Esplanade until the concert and fireworks. Is noon a good time to arrive to get a spot?

4th of July in Boston

I will be attending this year's Pops concert on the Esplanade. I plan on bringing a picnic lunch and would like to explore the Back Bay/Beacon Hill/downtown areas for dinner time prior to the 8 pm concert. Are there non chain restaurants that will be open on the 4th? I'm thinking of a timeframe from 4 pm - 7 pm. TIA.

St. John the Divine and Zabars - Am I nuts?

You may also take your fare a few avenues over to Central Park and enjoy the scenery there. It's a great place to spend time on a nice day. You'll be at mid Park and can walk over to Bethesda Fountain and Terrace and also the Belvedere Castle.

St. John the Divine and Zabars - Am I nuts?

Zabar's does not have a place to sit, since it is usually very crowded, but worth a stop nontheless. Taking the subway is the easiest thing to do. Zabar's is worht the stop.

Boston Foodie Advice

Instead of Pizzeria Regina, I would go to Galleria Umberto's for slices of pizza, calzones, panzarotti (potato croquettes) and arancini (rice balls). They have been there forever and are open at 11 AM for the hordes that come every Monday through Saturday. The slices are nice with a medium crust, lots of tomatos, cheese and nice oil. You can't miss here. It's very inexpensive and a true slice of the North End. It's on Hanover Street, just past the corner of Richmond. You can google the address. Also, a great Italian store is Salumeria Italiana, which has sandwiches to go, an extensive selection of wonderful olive oil, balsamic vinegars, dried imported pastas and cheeses. They are generous with sampling an worth a stop. They are just past the corner of Hanover and Richmond. Mangia!

5 Napkin Burger

This is an excellent point about the "cooked to order". Every burger I ordered medium rare was excellent. How well they prepare beforehand and line them up I don't worry about, as long as the finished product works out well and it does.
