Coffee Syrups - Where to buy?

Check Surfas, that's not the kind of thing I buy but I do recall seeing a large selection in the past

Santa Monica Openings

I may have had two drinks there total and no food. It really does not appeal to me. Sad because I am so close, but I'd rather walk to Q's truthfully.

Other than the burger (and beer) what else do you like at Father's Office?

The burger is great but the rest of the menu is really well thought out executed and delish Bistro style cuisine. Steak frites, one of the best beet salads in town, simple yummy apps and small plates that go well with beer/wine.

edit: to say that I don't think F.O.. get's enough credit for being as good as it really is because of the (earned) hype behind the burger and controversy over their no subs policy. Just my opinion anyway.

Good to hear about the vegetarian tasting being good. I think you are the first to report back on it and couple people have asked.

"Artisan" pickled veggies for sale?

There is a vendor at the east end of the SMFM on Wednesdays that does a variety. Farm shop at the Brentwood Country mart has a selection of that kind of stuff as well

Smoked eel with poached egg, horsey sauce. Sobresada. Olives with harissa and almonds.. Specials are usually interesting as well

Matsutake is very aromatic, that is why it is often served in a broth to try and capture that, often wit a bit of fish but nothing to overwhelm the mushroom

Little Jewel

I didn't have any problem today finding street parking, don't know how typical that is. It was surprisingly easy to get too from the westside. Right up the block from phillipes.

Steens cane syrup sightings?

Thanks Burger Boy, That was the kick in the pants I needed to finally get over there. Had the Muffalata (half) and they have Steens as well as another Louisiana brand of cane syrup and Steens molassas. So now I am full and ready for Turkey day pecan pie baking

Who knows, They are both (the City & Fabs) going to have to show so flexibility. If not the next QSR will have to take out the patio.

Fab's Hot Dogs Westwood.......breaking news

Thank God, It's for the good of the community that westwood village has been economically depressed for the last 30 years and can only support QSR's. Let's make it more difficult for business owners and entrepreneurs. yay.

Dinner close to Cedars Sinai - Public Transit-friendly locations most appreciated

No big loss, that was a terrible theater at least they have Uniqlo now but you're right not much going on there and they nickle and dime you at parking.

Park's BBQ vs Genwa vs Soowon vs ??? - Korean Food

Not unanimous. There have been a couple complaints recently re: Parks banchan being particularly weak IIRC.

I think Kang ho dong has really good food and a fun atmosphere. Hang out at Toe Bang for some drinks while you wait.

Fresh Yuzu Sightings?

Mud Creek Ranch sells them at the Santa Monica FM. I didn't see them last week, but ask there, should be in soon. They also have Sudachi. If they don't have them on display- ask they don't have a lot of trees, so they stash them for regulars and restaurants.

$1 Scoop at Atticus Creamery Today!

I do like their Ice Cream, especially the texture which is nice and soft. I had a honey comb scoop at Atticus that I really liked.

New Banh Mi Shop in Venice, Southwest Corner of Rose and Lincoln

I don't want a 'baguette traditionnelle' with a strong levain flavor for a bahn mi. That is what I want for a great baguette though. Yes the bread should have nice texture and soft/neutral crumb.

I didn't have a problem with the bread, is it great? no. But it's fine for the sandwich, imo a great bagguette doesn't belong near a bahn mi

I tried the Oink me as well, it was good enough that I am curious about the rest of the menu but yeah 13$ for a sandwich that is not particularly filling is steep. Granted that is the most expensive on the menu. Thought the pate was particularly nice btw.
