Take out in downtown Boulder?

Well, all the recommendations were for naught. I ended up going out with a coworker Friday night, and most places had long waiting lists. We finally decided on Rueben's Burger Bistro, which made a really good Buffalo burger and has a great selection of Belgian beers if that's your thing. It's not mine. Service was fast, if clueless, definitely for the college crowd.

I was taken out to breakfast on Saturday as well, to Turley's. I had no choice in the matter. I wanted to check out Lucile's but maybe next time. Turley's was nothing special, but at least we beat the crowd.

Thanks again.

Take out in downtown Boulder?

Zoe Ma Ma does sound worth checking out, exactly the kind of place that I like to hit when traveling. I lived in Taiwan and San Francisco, so I've eaten my share of "real" Chinese food. Thanks for the rec.

Take out in downtown Boulder?

Thanks for all the recommendations. I didn't make it to Boulder today, due to the weather, but my trip has been rescheduled for next week. I don't know why the Corner Bar doesn't sound enticing, maybe just the disconnect between a web site and the bar itself? I might love the place if I walked by. Their sister restaurant Riffs Urban Fare looks interesting too.

Take out in downtown Boulder?

I have a meeting in Boulder tomorrow and I'll be done around 4. Considering the weather, I'll probably want to pick up some food and head back to the hotel for the night. I'm staying at the Hotel Boulderado, and the food there doesn't sound enticing. Is there anything really good within easy walking distance-sandwiches, burgers, Indian, Thai, etc?

Thanks!

Early lunch Monday after Christmas?

My wife and I have our one day away from our daughter on Monday, and we're going to be in Georgetown. I'd like to grab an early lunch (11:30 am) somewhere nice, maybe a burger at pub or a restaurant in one of the nice hotels. Nothing jumps out at me in my searching.

Any ideas?

Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Good eats between Atlanta and Orlando?

We're on a driving vacation and I'm interested in anything chow worthy between Atlanta and Orlando. In Georgia, I'd love to find a great peach cobbler and/or other pie. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Looking for fishmonger in NoVa

Where is there a good fishmonger in NoVa? I'm specifically looking for fresh anchovy fillets. I don't like the smell of Whole Foods' fish dept.

Thanks

Casual non-Christmas meal in NoVA?

This is our first holiday season in the area. Will restaurants like China Star be open on Christmas Day? If not, any suggestions? We don't celebrate Christmas, and I'd rather not drive around hunting for open restaurants with a hungry toddler. We ended up going to Yechon on Thanksgiving, and it was packed.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays

Non child-friendly restaurant for lunch (NoVA)

My wife and I are free from our daughter's tyranny for the first time in 9 months tomorrow, but only during the day. I'm looking for a decidedly non child-friendly place for a nice adult lunch, and location is flexible in NoVA.

Thanks!

Looking for fun family & vegetarian friendly in DC or NoVA

My wife's vegetarian family is coming in next month, and I'm looking for someplace to eat (preferably in DC) with 4 adults, and 3 children ages 1, 2, and 4. We'll be eating early (6 pm) on a Friday after a day of tourist stuff-zoo, museums etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Child friendly sushi for late lunch/early dinner

Child friendly sushi for late lunch/early dinner

My wife and I would like to grab some sushi for our anniversary today, for the 1st time since moving to the DC area. However, we have our 1.5 year old with us. We're looking for really good food (wife is from Japan), anywhere in DC. We'll be coming from the Smithsonian, and driving, so some kind of parking nearby is a must.

Any ideas?

thanks

Looking for FRESH pita

We just moved from the middle east to NoVA, and I'm having a nightmare of a time finding fresh pita. I've been to Lebanese Taverna but the pre-packaged pita is borderline stale to me. I'm not expecting hot, right out of the oven pita, but I would like something decent. I've looked in all the supermarkets to no avail. Can anyone help? I'm also looking for decent tahina, zattar, etc but I can order those online if need be, or I can go to NY.

Thanks for helping a newcomer.

Shan on El Camino in Sunnyvale

Has anyone been to Shan on El Camino in Sunnyvale? Is it exactly the same as the other locations (Santa Clara).

Thanks

Really quick West Portal meal?

We're going to the movies at the Century Empire Cinema theater tonight, not a neighborhood that I spend much time in. We'll only have about 45 minutes to eat before the movie. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

New suggestions for shawerma in San Francisco?

Melanie was asking about Mediterranean Spirit on Polk. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE patronize them. They're not busy enough from what I've seen, and once you've been there, you will understand why they must not close.

Their shawarma is good but I don't know that it's special. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but this is the only place outside of Israel or the Palestinian Authority that I've seen making real hummus. If you've been to the middle east, then you know what I'm talking about. If not, there is no way to describe real heavy as lead, oil laden hummus, except that what you're getting here ain't it. They have some nice but unspectacular fish dishes, and other regional favorites but this place is all about the hummus.

I don't know the owner's name, but he's a really sweet Palestinian guy; his wife makes the tougher dishes like Musachan, and if it's not on the menu, they'll be glad to make special orders with some advance notice. Since my family is from the region, I've spoken to the owners extensively. They know how much I love their hummus, and they always give us a free plate, accepting only a hearty "shukran" in return. Talk to the owners. They're really excited to meet anyone who knows real middle eastern food, or the area in general.

For simple, exquisitely spiced middle eastern food, pay Mediterranean Spirit a visit. Order the best hummus this side of Abu Ghosh and Salat Turkiye, and keep the pita coming!
