Private Chef Looking for Grocery Stores Around Bay Head, NJ

If you are looking for a grocery store in the same caliber as Gelson's in Pacific Palisades or Andronico in SF you will need to head up north to Monmouth county. There is a Wegman's which is comparable to Gelson's in quality and selection. And there is a Whole Foods and Trader Joes. All about 30 minutes or so up route 35 to the north Hope this helps.

Jersey Shore Homemade Ice Cream?

We love Hoffman's in Point Pleasant. The Banana ice cream there is the best I've had anywhere. But closer to home Toms River -- Rich's is by far our favorite. We wait anxiously for it's opening in May and bid farewell in the Fall for the winter.. But in the summer we indulge once a week and if you can stand the lines on the weekends it is worth the wait.

Toms River Diners?

I agree Fast Break is a great family run breakfast place. The Rice's who own it are great and friendly and there are many, many locals who dine there every weekend. We go there at least twice a month. But it is the closest to our house as well so the most convenient. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. For other breakfast spots that are not diners -- I love Meg's on 35 in Lavallette and Bayside Cafe on the bay in Lavallette as well. Both neighborhood family run spots who put a lot of care into their food. I have not had very good food at all at the Toms River Diner. In fact while living only minutes away have only been there a handful of times in the 5 years we have lived in the area. Usually with a large group for breakfast.

Toms River Diners?

We love the Sandcastle in Beachwood. Just redid inside. Have only been for breakfast but has always been good.

Any recommendations for restaurants near GOOD SPORTS in Wall on Rt 138.

We spend many Sundays over the course of the Winter at GOOD SPORTS where our kids play soccer and are always looking for a good place to eat before heading home to Toms River. Always on the lookout for honest good food -- no Italian unless it is spectacular! Kids are older so does not have to be kid friendly. Thanks,

Wang Sushi Toms River anyone?

My husband and kids returned to Wang Sushi last week after having a very so so dinner there in its first month open. WOW -- What a difference. Food was so much better -- we will be back again soon. The decor was much improved with new lighting and and tables. Has much more of a restaurant feel. Not fancy but a place you could go every week. We stayed away from Sushi menu because we eat it so much and we were ready for some new flavors. Had the Basil Chicken, BBQ Pork, Shrimp rolled in Pastry, Malaysian Broad Flat Noodle -- texture perfect but a little greasy -- but for Toms River I will not complain, Octopus Salad all good stuff. So happy that is has improved so much from out last visit. Ryan owner was very friendly. Waitstaff could be better trained but over all was friendly. Will be back to try sushi soon. Also dinner for 4 of us only $45 dollars bargain compared to our $75 sushi tabs.

Places for Sunday dinner in Middletown, Manalapan, Sayreville and Millstone

Thank you that is perfect! I will look them up.

Places for Sunday dinner in Middletown, Manalapan, Sayreville and Millstone

Just got our kids soccer schedule and we are all over the state the next month. Looking for good, local, casual, not too pricey places to eat with our kids after late afternoon games in the following places: Middletown, Manalapan, Sayreville and Millstone. It can be a pub, pizza place like Contes in Princeton or a great Chinese, Thai, Mexican,or something funky with a different menu. (Just no Italian that is not amazing pizza) Kids are 8 and 10 but will eat anything. We usually end up at a horrid chain for lack of planning and everyone is starving. Just want some good food as we are stuck in Toms River and not many options. Thanks!!

How's the Fish at the Asian Food Market of Plainsboro?

I have had good and bad experiences with fish at the Asian Market in Plainsboro. Have had amazing whole red snapper wrapped in foil with fresh herbs and butter cooked on the grill and really smelly fish we had to throw out at home. I LOVE this market and we do a lot of our shopping there for home and business (we own a restaurant in TR -- never post on other competing restaurants or our own) Look for bright clear eyes and ask whoever is helping you for as much info as possible. The price is worth the gamble and I have had whole fish there 3 times with great success. I love this market for all the produce, hard to find products, noodles both frozen and dry and as a mom with small kids I love all the frozen Pot stickers, Shrimp and Vegetable dumplings I can toss in a pan and whip up for a last minute early dinner when I know we are not going to get a real meal on the table til late. Hope this helps.
