Cheapest tomato source

I went yesterday. They're actually selling them for $14.99/bushel which, when weighed at home, was a good 40+ lbs, so even cheaper than advertised. I got two bushels and though a few were bruised, only one moldy one in the middle of the pack. Decent flavor, though a bit underripe. If you have the space to pick through, process the ripe and let the others ripen, this is quite a bargain.

Score on Caputo's -- this week is indeed canning week: Michigan Romas for 39c/lb

Cheapest tomato source

My plants did not do well this year and I'm looking for the best place to buy bulk tomatoes to make sauce / salsa to get me through the winter. What does everyone think -- Maxwell Street? A wholesaler? A good fruit/veggie market? I'm in the South Loop but willing to travel for a bargain.

South Loop spot for Private/Group Happy Hour

I live pretty close to there. Does she want a separate room for the party? Kroll's is in the right price range and big enough, but very sports bar casual and no separate room. WeatherMark would be another inexpensive choice (again in the sports bar vein). Triad Sushi is probably the closest restaurant to McCormick but it on the smallish side. South Coast sushi is pretty reasonable, but I'm not sure if they have a separate room for a cocktail party. If you're up for a short cab ride (around 10 minutes) you could get everyone to Taylor Street - lots of good options there.
