Detailed report: Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest
Totally concur regarding Klassz in Budapest - went a month or so ago. A great find, ridiculously cheap. It has some connection (an ex-chef perhaps?) with the also very good Menza restaurant, which is just around the corner. Both definitely recommended.
Harden's London restaurant awards - reliable?
OK, ignoring the fact that all such endeavours are pretty flawed from the start, is this list any better or worse than other lists?
Are Harden's/Zagat notoriously unreliable? (Forgive me, I'm something of a newbie..)
Harden's London restaurant awards - reliable?
How seriously should we take this latest set of "awards" from Harden's?

- Best all-round looks like a sensible enough list. Ditto "Favourite" (How is this different?)
- "Most disappointing" has some surprises. Corrigans (I have a booking...!)/ Maze?
- Is Clos Maggiore worth a visit?
- Notable omissions? (Other than non-trad/ethnic restaurants outside of best newcomer?) I always think Launceston Place deserves to pop up more often in these things...
What do you guys think?

Thanks for those suggestions - Corrigans in particular is looking like a great option. Much appreciated!

Thanks both! I've heard a lot about Andrew Edmunds and I'd love to give it a try, but I've read quite a few complaints about it being a bit cramped, which we don't really enjoy... and the one week in advance booking policy doesn't suit my planning instincts. Also I'm concerned that it may be a bit too 'rustic' and not quite 'wow' enough for the occasion. I'd definitely give it a go some other time though...
Still no closer to a decision! I've had a few more recommendations - Patterson's and Sake No Hana. Any thoughts? I'm too easily put off by the first dodgy review I find...!

Hi guys,
I'm looking to book a romantic meal for my partner's birthday, and would love to hear your thoughts.
My benchmark is Launceston Place - quirky menu with some wow factor; welcoming, friendly service; not too pricey (but not budget either).
I've been looking all over the place for a similar experience. I haven't got very far!
My shortlist so far has a few that I'm interested in but all have shortcomings - The Ledbury (possibly out of budget); Bocca di Lupo (different, great reviews, not sure if it's right for the occasion though); Lutyens (maybe too plain?).
What do you think?
Thanks so much!
