Ocean City , Md this weekend?

Check out Lombardi's. A good italian restaurant and a great place to get away from the chain corporations. Their italian pastas are good but the pizza is just plain awesome. Great food. Lombardi's is in the 94th street shopping center (the one with the odd shaped cigar store and Sunsations.)

Tequila Mockingbird is a nice place to eat, up at the high end of town around 145th street (cant remember exactly) in the shopping center with the big grocery store. Its 2nd from the end next to a restaurant named Duffy's Tavern. Tequila has nice mexican food and isn't outrageously priced like some other Mexican joints in OC (La Hacienda).

If you dig soul food/southern home-style try English's. They have great chicken that is breaded and fried all right there in the store. You can see them making it at the take out section of the restaurant. English's is down at the lower end of OC right on Costal Highway down around 20th street. If you travel south English's will be on your left.

Looking to try something new in Ocean City -- Will go into Delaware, too

Pizza:
Lombardi's on 94th street plaza, get there for an early dinner, it gets crowded.

Mexican:
Tequila Mockingbird in 140ish street, its in a plaza with a super market, I forget the exact street.

Seafood Buffet:
Phillips Crab House 144th st.

Homestyle Soul food (Fried Chicken, Potatos etc)
English's Around the lower end of OC 40s-20th street, If going south bound it will be on your left.

The cottage cafe is a good suggestion by Lewes17266, I had the Jerk Chicken there and it was great.

If I think of any more I'll post em up.

Do all restaurants use Old Bay for crab?? Ocean City, Md. and Delaware

Ocean City, MD! Great place to eat crab. I live in Wilmington and travel to OC few imes out of the year since my parents have a condo down there, so I might be able to help you.

Philips Crab House is the first thing that comes to mind. 144th street has the best Philips in OC (at least my family and I think so). There is another one around 40th street i think.

Philips is a buffet/dine in but if you want crabs get the buffet. Its about 30 bucks a person, but if you plan to eat some crabs you'll get your dollars worth very quickly since crab can be quite expensive. The crabs served there are King Snow Crab legs. They are steamed and have nothing on them. You can get some butter and crack em open and enjoy.

I can't vouch for the Blue Crabs because I don't personally eat Blue Crab unless its in the Blue Crab Soup. I think those might be served with Old Bay, but if you ask the guy for some crabs without Old Bay on them I'm sure he'll comply (you are paying 30 bucks a person, so they'll make their customers happy).

Other than Phillips? Basically any other seafood buffet will have em, Embers, Bonfire, Crab shacks, I think Bahama Mamas (Neon Yellow and Orange Building) might have Snow Crab, but I think their claim to fame is Blue Crab.

But like I said since Crab is so expensive go to a buffet like Phillips on 144th or ask for the Old Bay to not be added.

Hope this helps.

chow mein vs. chow fun??

This is the way it is made in the Mid East coast. All the places I have been to in Delaware, Maryland, PA, New Jersey, DC, I think Virginia too have made it this way. Thin Angel Hair Rice noodles with lots of curry lighly stirfired to a golden color with assortment of meats and veggies and egg thrown in. The noodles are not hard, they are about the toughness of a little bit underdone spaghetti or rice, but are by no means crispy or tough. Also it is not very wet.

I believe this is a Mandarin style dish or "American Chinese"? I went to a Chinese place yesterday and they only serve Cantonese dishes and didn't have Singapore Chow Mei Fun. Instead they served the angel Hair style rice noodles drenched in a brown meat gravy with large shrimp and veggies on top. Definatly didn't care for that at all.

Attached picture is what Chow Mei Fun is around here.
