Restaurant close to the AGO for lunch on Sunday?
Oh yes, it is Karine's in the food court that is quite popular. Vegetarian mostly. But I think I had bacon in my dish.
And my co worker went to Sin & Redemption, sister restaurant of Village Idiot (becuz it was full), she said it was very good.
Wikki Hut is good, asian tho. Only open on weekdays.
Restaurant close to the AGO for lunch on Sunday?
There is a pub across the street on the corner! Can't rmmbr the name. I recommended it to a friend she said it was fantastic.
You can go in The Grange food court, there is a vegetarian place. Very popular. Can't rmmbr the name but you will notice it. Long line, decorated bring pinkish purplish. Across the Greek fast food. This would be a good cheap food.
For chinese, I would just head over to dundas / spadina its not that far of a walk. You can go to Swatow on Spadina, or House of Gourmet, or kings noodles.
LOBLAWS Maple leaf Gardens
I went over there last night. No dim sum. Sushi looks good. I bought some olives. Very good.
Also, I got some of that pricey giant block of chocolate! $39.99 kg. I got a bag worth $6. I haven't eaten any yet. Anyone know why its so pricey?
Yes tons of staff! I wonder how long they will keep that up though!
Sultan's Tent or other Ideas?
Yes, I've been to the Sultan Tent, a couple of years ago now. We went for a girls night out. We had fun. But it was pricey.
The food is so so. It's like fast food.
They had a time limit of 2 sittings for the evening I think.
I'm don't think its all that worth it.
Bakeries - Toronto and area
OOhhh I must map out the locations, so that when I am nearby and stop by!
I will be near Hwy 7 so I will definitely go and try it. I'll try to rmmbr to write back after the weekend.
Oh yeah and addresses would be appreciated.
Bakeries - Toronto and area
Any good bakeries to visit .. will have car.
Cakes, tarts, love sweets.
Brilliant Chinese Restaurant - Different dishes, equally enjoyable!
Had dim sum at Brilliant today, it was really good and got a 10% off today! Is that normal? Instead of regular brunch .... was packed no seat. So that sort of worked out. And so much cheaper than dim sum at Emperor last week!
Restaurants around Dundas Square - please recommend.
Are there any decent restaurants around Dundas Square?
Just tried to go to Milestones and of course they make you wait 20 minutes so you can buy a drink at the bar? Then they sat us at the penalty box - the waiter cud not even get in to ask us what we wanted. No need to give my money to them ever! WTH. Left.
Didn't do much better, headed over to the Baton Rouge, they sat us at the tiny bar table even tho it was around 8pm and the restaurant was only 1/2 full. Freak a teeny weeny table I can hardly put my elbows on. And my butt hurt after I ate. No cushioned seats. The ribs were so so... its not that great. Why I ordered that? Anyhow won't be returning. I can't believe it.. am not even that full!
3 day trip to Boston - suggestions for must-eats?
:( awwwWWW I just got back from Boston. Now I have to wait for next time to try all these places.
I did go to chinatown to Peach Farm, best meal I had during my visit. We had the dinner for 2 crab special, that came with black bean clams (huge clams they were) and chinese broccoli and fish maw soup.
I had gone to Legal Seafood and had the Cioppino which was alright.
I still rmmbr the Cioppino I had last year in Santa Barbara across the Best Western I stayed in; there was a mall across the street and we went over for lunch. Best Cioppino I've had. From all the ones I've tried so far.
Oh I had the Lobster Torpedo sandwich which was nice at Warren's Lobster House. My friend had the Cioppino. Don't order that there. We went there because we were watching Phantom Gourmet and we were gonna go to Stolen Menu which was closed at 2pm. But I know better than to go anywhere that Phantom Gourmet recommends now.
I know this have nothing to do with eating. But since you are coming all the way from Australia, if you want to do some outlet shopping. Go to Wrentham Outlet. Its better than Freeport that Kitter Maine.

I went there after seeing it on the Phantom Gourmet. Stupid show. I will not watch it again.
I ordered the Veal with ziti. The veal was overcooked. And the sauce on my penne (that is what came instead of ziti!!!) came from a jar.
My friend had meat sauce bolognese, was not that great either.
Waste our gas going there.
Dinner at Yang's, Richmond Hill - Wonderful Cantonese Cuisine!

Dinner at Yang's, Richmond Hill - Wonderful Cantonese Cuisine!
I went there yesterday for dim sum AT Yang's.
Service was terrible, I had to wave them to give my order. I went to the washroom. Which was freezing cold. And unfinished. What kind of signs are those for bathrooms. The staff kept on walking in front of me, never letting me walk first. NO MANNERS!!!. Food was just ok.
Nothing to rave about. I would not go so far ever for that again.
They probably spent too much time TRYING to make everything look good. TRY.. and not have it taste good. A tad innovative. But eh!
I can leave it. I guess they are not that great anymore for dim sum. WHY U CHOWHOUNDERS NOT LET ME KNOW!!!
Needs dish suggestions for O-Mei and Fantasy Eatery
No I have not tried Brilliant. Will go try it out then. Put a star next to my list of places to go this weekend.
More suggestions welcomed. And also looking for a GrrReat roast duck. Even to take home. I like to take it home, then I can eat it however I want? :D
Needs dish suggestions for O-Mei and Fantasy Eatery

Hmm looking for new places to try. Any suggestions? For dim sum, lunch, and dinner places.

Where can I find good Cantonese Roast Duck!!!
Hi T Long,
Hong Fatt changed hands too 2 years ago. I haven't gone since.
I guess all the places have change hands, so I am just gonna have to try them out!!!
I couldn't believe it..... when I got to Happy Meats on Saturday... and oh no!!!
Still haven't had my duck yet! Just gonna have to brave out the new joints now...
ISO Downtown cheap-but-tasty dim sum restaurant with carts
Wow, Bright Pearl closed!!!
I preferred Rol San but I can't believe it.... all the good places in Chinatown closing!!

Where can I find good Cantonese Roast Duck!!!
OH no, today I went to Happy Meat Markets to get a roast duck!!! It's changed hands. It didn't look as good as Happy Meats was there. I wasn't sure to buy it or not. I guess I could have bought 1/2 to try!!!
All the 'lap gap' was gone too!!! I bought my last lap gap that was produced from Happy Meats from T&T in December.
So, my question is ... where to get good roast duck in Chinatown:
(1) Spadina & Dundas area.
(2) Broadview Chinatown
(3) And last but not least, anywhere ...
Thanks.
Sushi Queen Izakaya on Bay & Elm
Ok I went back last night 3rd time. Yes just don't order menu items with too much rice. They put less rice now so its less mushy.
And I had the tempera Udon and the spicy tuna maki and dragon roll. It was good!
I would go back! It is good for mid range price!!!
Crown Prince Fine Dining - New Chinese Restaurant in North York
Hey, I just walked by Crown Princess on 1033 Bay Street near Wellesley. They had the opening flowers.. so its really new.
Has anyone gone to that location yet?
I was thinking that their business card is very much like Casa Imperial and decor.
Chowhounders! Please review once you gone. If I go first. I'll let you know.

Yes the Westfield Mall....great. Just back from San Fran, I enjoyed the Buckhorn Grill, I had the Spring Mix Fruit & Nut Salad with Char Roasted Tri Tip. Yummy. Loved the Honey lime dressing!!! hmmm would like another one of those salads.
I had a great lobster dinner at R& G Lounge.
Sunpower Natural Cafe
I'm not a vegan, but I had an avocado salad and a sandwich wrap with soy dressing. It was really tasty.
Is Stinking Rose worth a visit w/teens ?
Its a hoppy place, but I don't think this is what teenagers are looking for.
The food was okay. Not like I thought how the garlic would be used on the preparations of food. Good idea but execution of the food not so great.
I had the 40 cloves of garlic roasted chicken, I thought it would be like a mash of roasted garlic encrusted chicken. Was not. I should read carefully. Was tasty. But a tad over cooked. The mash was not overly tasty either.
The only thing I liked was the rolls with the garlic, parsley, olive oil.
My friend had the braised short ribs. Was alright only too.
Overall, 1.5 stars out of 5. Okay. 2 stars. The service was prompt.
Din Tai Fung in Toronto
I think I've read a link before from some other chowhounder, that the Ding Tai Fung here in Toronto was never related / associated to the restaurants you are referring to.
Caribana Food places for next weekend!! any suggestions? caribean foods like Roti places,Jamaican and good jerk chicken?
I'm lazy. Where is good roti downtown?
I used to get my fix at Carribean Island at Dundas and McCaul. But there is a new indian place there now.
Ajisen is open on Spadina
I just went there today. I thought I try it out instead of dim sum.
It's different. I had miso soup with the tender rib, one of the recommended. It's more like beef tendon and brisket mix. It is sort of salty. It's different. It's a first for me for Japanese ramen. I usually have the instant ones at home.
And like 'swz' above, I thought the noodle was like al dente spaghetti noodles. I like my noodles over cooked. So, the noodle was a tad hard for me.
I'm not sure if I'd go back. But my friend thought it wasn't filling for the price. I was full.
Sushi Queen Izakaya on Bay & Elm
Is this the same as the one on Queen Street near St. Just wondering???
Anyhow, I went there yesterday.
We had the Sushi Yonge Street #135.
The rice was mushy. I read on the board some people talking about mushy rice at other Japanese places. What I think now is that its not the Japanese rice that is being used. That is why its mushy.
It was okay. But I won't be going again. It's just okay.
I can't taste the flavours of anything standing out ......all very mushed up together.
