Time for BBQ

If you're staying on the north side of the airport you'll be pretty close to Hard 8 BBQ. I'm not sure how bad the lines will be but they do have a lot of seating (especially if its not too hot to sit outside) including big tables which are good for a large group.

Best Tamales??

Yeah, but I think their hours line up with when I'm at work during the week. And if I'm going on Saturday I might as well go the Farmers Market for other stuff anyways.

Best Tamales??

I just had my last three of their Habanero Pork tamales for lunch. Really tasty. Might need to pick up some more at the Farmers Market tomorrow.

Taco Republic - Awesome

West side. I haven't tried it, but it's close enough to work that I'll have to get lunch there some day. Normally I'm just lazy and go to Taco Ocho if I'm in the mood for tacos.

Don't like tex-mex. Help me change my mind.

I'd add Taqueria Burritos Locos to the list of Mexican places in Grapevine. I've only been once but the Torta de Lengua was pretty damn tasty.

Copper River salmon at Tom Thumb $9/lb.

As a recent transplant from Seattle I can't say the good price surprises me. I often see Washington Apples cheaper in the DFW grocery stores than they were in Seattle grocery stores. I can't explain it but you won't see me complaining.

Southern California Mexican Food and IN N OUT Burger in 1 week!

As someone who grew up in the San Diego area and recently moved to the DFW area after spending 9 years in Seattle the idea of good San Diego Mexican food really appeals to me. I might have to make a field trip to Frisco have some grub and then watch the Missions beat up on the Roughriders.

Best recipe for heritage chicken

I've been on a roast chicken kick lately but I really like this recipe and think that it would work really well with a large chicken.

Great Mexican and Latin-American Food in Seattle?

I agree that the tacos at Mission are a bit bland but for the happy hour prices they're not a bad deal and I've never had one fall apart. My wife does like their vegetarian options quite a bit.

New Cooking Channel Reactions??

I don't know if this is the case everywhere but with DirecTV the Cooking Channel replaced Fine Living Network. So if you get FLN you might want to check that channel and see it is now the Cooking Channel.

New Cooking Channel Reactions??

I watched some of Chinese Food Made Easy and French Food at Home and liked them both. Although the camera work on French Food at Home drove me nuts. Narrow depth of field and the camera randomly going out of focus doesn't do anything for me.

Lamb bacon

The Swinery in West Seattle sells lamb Bacon but their retail store doesn't open back up until April 1st and I'm not sure if they will have any lamb bacon in stock at that time.

Fish: Where do you buy yours?

Fisherman's Terminal is on the non-Ballard side of the Ballard Bridge.

I go to the Seattle Fish in West Seattle as it's less than a mile from my house and I've always been happy with the quality.

Next Iron Chef Episode 1 10/4 [And subsequent episodes] (spoilers)

Normally I like Steingarten on Iron Chef America even when he is taking snarky shots at people as they don't seem mean spirited but I agree that last night he really came off like a jerk. Hopefully the judge's build some rapport and their discussions become more about the food as things progress.

ISO Boar's Head brand meats

I'm not sure if they still carry Boar's Head but you used to be able to get it at Thriftway.

Looks like an impressive group of Cheftestants for TC-Las Vegas

It may just be him hyping up the new show because he's supposed to but I thought I heard somewhere that Tom Colicchio said that the food this season was the best they've had during any season yet.

Any suggestions for a good restaurant near Seatac

That would be my suggestion as well. Not as close to the airport as it used to be but I like it more than any of the chain places you'll find around Southcenter.

Orange Bitters in Seattle? Rye?

I can't help with the orange bitters but I've heard that the Jim Beam Rye is decent. I've bought Old Overholt Rye from the West Seattle liquor store and have been happy with it. Under $20 if I remember right. "Ri" seems to be overpriced for what you get.
