Special restaurants open on Sunday nights

Big thumbs up for the Blue Duck Tavern. Best meal and service we had all weekend. Probably the finest charcuterie and cheese plate we have ever had. Admittedly, the Foie Gras Candy Bar was a little odd. Shares teh Beef Rib and Whole Grain Mustard Spaetzel. Major Yum. I encourage anyone looking for anoutstanding fine dining experience in the D.C. area to go.

Did go Zaytinya based on your comments. Enjoyed it. Lamb chops were good, not great. Tzatzikis was excellent. Did enjoy the greek and turkish wines.

Some other observations. Sat at the bar at Urbana for a couple of glasses of wine. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Jennifer is an outstanding bartendress. Very personable, knows the wine list well and made some excellens suggestions.

Breakfast at the Jockey Club is marginal and overpriced. The bar food at the Fairfax Lounge is excellent. Definitely try their french fries. Crisp, hot tasty.

Nora was good not great. Appetizers were amazing. Crab and avocado was "the best guacamole ever" and the steak tartar would turn any raw food vegan into a carnivore. Things dropped off precipitously at the main course. Osso bucco, tender and dry. Not sure how that works. Gnocchi was a mash, not a melange, of flavors. Service was top notch. Attentive but not overbearing. Management came by to ask how dinner was. After we talked, they comped us our wine.

Thanks all. We are dining at Restaurant Nora on Friday night and Cafe Atlantico on Saturday night. We have reservations for Blue Duck Tavern on Sunday night but I am still thinking about that one. We may go to Ris for Sunday brunch.

Recommendations for places in Houston that are local & delicious?

Try Broken Spoke Cafe. Belgian restaurant. Atmosphere is kind of funky, in that offbeat, eclectic way. Try the La Route de Bruxelles, mussels and beer sampler.

Best Houston Burgers

Have to agree about Stanton's. Great burger, reasonably priced.

My wife and I were married on Halloween. We will be in D.C. that weekend. Looking for a restaurant to celebrate our 18th anniversary that night. Since many restaurants aren't open on Sundays, I am hoping you might have some suggestions. No parameters in terms of price or type of food. Would like some place interesting and memorable with good service.

Also, if you have suggestions for reastaurants to try on the otehr nights we are there, that would be greatly appreciated. I have gotten to a point where I prefer smaller restaurants (20 tables or less) with attentive but not officious service and unique takes on food. Small plates, tapas, salumeria are always a good idea.

Looks like it. The website is now in Japanese and Yelp.com lists that it is closed. Too bad.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We went to River's Edge last September and it seemed to be still working out some kinks. It was good but needed some work.

I prefer Tacos to Go over Mary's for breakfast tacos.

We end up eating at Cafe Riverstone more often than anywhere else.

Mac and Ernie's in Tarpley was worh the drive. Not sure if there is anything in Bandera to try.

Anybody tried 814 - A Texas Bistro or the Terrace Grill in Comfort?

Time for our annual month long trek to the Kerrville Folk Festival. Anybody aware of any new and interesting restaurants in and around Kerrville (including Comfort, Boerne, Sisterdale)?

Need recommendation for Houston restaurant - fine dining

If you prefer seafood, Reef is the place to go. Outstanding food and service.

best high end food in houston

I hear wonderful things about Hugo's also, but never have that experience. Maybe it is because most of the times I have gone has been at lunch, but I have found the food to be uninspiring and the service to be marginal.

So many choices.

Textile. Go on the weekend, when Scott is there.

Catalan . The tasting menu never stops.

Mark's. Always great. Same with Da Marco.

Last April, Food in Houston ranked the top 10 restaurants in Houston as follows:
1. Feast
2. Reef
3. Textile
4. Rainbow Lodge
5. Indika
6. Catalan
7. Da Marco's
8. Hugo's
9. Bedford
10. Voice.

Other than Hugo's, I can't quibble with the list.
