Solo dining at Charleston

Milocat, The Charleston is of course available for solo dinners, and you will love it. It is the perfect dining experience. Just watching the dance of the dining room is reason enough for me to go, with or without my husband. The bar is also available for al la cart dining as they do offer the prefix menu in the bar as well. My best friend and I sometimes go in for cheese and port before a show. The cheese cart is sinful. Should you go, try the foie.

Bistro Blanc in Howard County

I've never actually spoken to the manager, as this was just an outside observation. So, I do not know his name, but was most likely the man you describe.

Upscale Wine Bars in Baltimore

I was there last week. Still open and very good.

Lunch in Crystal City

I hear the buffet is awesome. However, have yet to try. I think I'll drop in today, and let you know.

Upscale Wine Bars in Baltimore

I've been to Grand Cru, you are right they are very good. Perhaps I'm looking for more food and wine than just wine.

Upscale Wine Bars in Baltimore

I am looking to take my girlfriends from out of town to a few wine bars next weekend. Where are your favorites? I am thinking around the downtown area, fells point, federal hill, and mt. vernon.

Bistro Blanc in Howard County

Well, I wasn't going to say anything. However, after reading this and the other reviews about Bistro Blanc, I thought I would throw in my two cents.

I agree wholeheartedly that the food at Bistro Blanc is wonderful. I ate there with my husband and parents on Saturday evening and had the lump crab pastries, and risotto with sea scallops. The other entrees (72 hour souv vide short ribs, salmon and scallops.) were also delicious. Our server was and her assistant were the best team we had seen for quite a while. She had a small section but with large tables and it seems like she was always answering questions and looking ahead. In addition she also knew her wine, without seemingly knowing it all. Very very nice, and pleasant. In fact, I'd say we will be going back just to dine under her care.

Now for the bad part; we also noticed the manager. He was behind the bar, and as far as I could see, spending most his time telling people what to do, and acting superior. This of course is only a observation. What I also observed is him speaking down to the hostess, and other waiters. At one point he ran into the hostess almost knocking her into my husband, and didn't even say sorry or acknowledge that he was out of line. I'm not sure what this says, other than I would never work for someone like that, and I hope they don't lose good staff like the server we had. If they do, I don't know if the great food is great enough to keep us coming back. We need the whole package. He isn't apart of it. The fake smile and rude manager needs to go.
