Eduardo's in San Rafael - their amazing herb bread

I moved away from the Bay Area years ago but I still think about this delicious bread. Maybe my favorite turkey sandwich bread ever. It's soft as a cloud, and has a tender golden crust. I know I asked once and they said it is made with yogurt, but other than that I have no idea how I might make it. Has anyone ever found a similar bread to purchase or to bake?

Spice Station in Silverlake

I just barely noticed this place as I ducked into Secret Headquarters for some comics last week, and they were not open. I definitely want to go by and check it out next time I see it open!

Trader Joe's macarons - any good?

I agree with your EXACT comment. The vanilla was heavenly, yeah, but it's not like I kicked the chocolate out of bed. ;)

Australian Lamb Loin Chops?

Thanks for the solid cooking instructions!

Edible flower petals this time of year?

I am making some good old decorative ice rings for punch bowls for my upcoming wedding celebration, and want to make one of them with lime slices and either lime leaves, or multicolored edible flowers. I used to see these in salad mixes at Whole Foods, but haven't looked for them for a long time. Does anyone know where I could find some, or know any other fun varieties that can be used this way? I've been doing my shopping in the Hollywood, Silverlake, Glendale areas, etc.

where to buy large quantities of bocconcini (bite size mozzarella balls!) in LA?

Thank you both for letting me know about Gioia. $12 for that many cheese balls is sort of life-changing knowledge. I'm sure it will be more than worth the drive to El Monte! I see these in my future.

where to buy large quantities of bocconcini (bite size mozzarella balls!) in LA?

We checked Costco in Glendale today and did not find that shape/size. Anyone know where one might purchase large bags or jars of these for hors d'ourvres assembly?

Outer Banks Pizzerias?

I cannot remember eating at any of these but Stone Oven when I lived in the Outer Banks, but Stone Oven was delicious pizza and considered quite a treat after a day of surfing. You might also want to check out Lou Petrozza's current place - I think I found it by googling when I was down there last. I worked there the summer after high school, and we made truly tasty food. Possibly my first exposure to the roots of "foodie" ingredients and tastes.

Santa Cruz for a romantic getaway - any worthy destination restaurants?

Taking a quick getaway to a lovely hotel we found in Santa Cruz. Any restaurants we should seek out? The restaurant at the hotel is called Aquarius (http://www.aquariussantacruz.com/) but I know nothing about it, so if anyone has eaten there and has opinions, that would be helpful as well!

Some flavors spotted at SCOOPS today...

Goat cheese + lavender, popcorn, strawberry sour cream, caramel + Marsala wine are all good today.

Almost no non-dairy choices left, just some cherry chocolate that I didn't try because that wasn't the mood I was in.

Puppy Shower Menu Ideas?

If you drink and serve alcohol, wander the microbrew aisle at BevMo and you'll find dozens of brands and labels that are dog-named and decorated. Stock a large metal pail with ice and a variety of dog brews.

Some flavors spotted at SCOOPS today...

His non-dairy flavors are the best I've ever had anywhere. I want to try avocado pale ale - amazing combo!

salt honey is my new favorite flavor

Anybody go today and want to report on the flavors? Last week or two he had the non-dairy salty chocolate, and I came home with a whole pint. Found that whirring it with vanilla soy milk made the best non-dairy milkshake I have ever achieved.

Favorite hangover foods (or restaurants)?

The chilaquiles at Brite Spot will sweat it right out of you. Too hot and heavy for me unless I'm hungover, but when I am they hit the spot.
