Vacationing in Loire valley for week

Chinon is definitely one of favourite towns ( for a typical french experience in good central location stay at Diderot if you can get in but not luxury with lifts etc!). Try L'Annees Trente or L'Oceanic if you prefer fish. Would also thoroughly recommend Diane de Meridor in Montsoreau ( great good value lunch menu and ask for table overlooking Loire). These are all good value and great food
Bon Appetit if not too late!

Normandy/Caen/ Bayeux

Yes ! Ttry Le BOUCHON DU VAUGUEUX in Caen ( great atmosphere great food but need to book as not expensive), Le Moulin de Jean in Cuves ( great!), Chez Francois in Genets, Littre in Avranches, Croix D'or in Avranches. i posted reply under Normandy last year. if in doubt go for Michelin Bib Gourmand listed ( not starred) restaurants and you won't go far wrong!

Bon appetit

Early Dinner near Gare du Nord on Sunday (Valentine's Day)

Brasserie Terminus Nord is always good and should be open on Sunday. I would have thought at that time no need to book with a bit of luck ?

Foodie looking for the real restaurants in Sicily

Sorry probably too late as we're just back from Sicily. Generally meals were all excellent but one real highlight- Da Angelo in Sinagra. Tucked away in stunning mountains and not exactly easy to find ( ask when you get to Sinagra) it's a real experience not to be missed! Not for the faint hearted or anyone looking to cut down on the quantities this is not for lovers of nouvelle cuisine! The spectacular anti pasti for two was enough to feed a family of four, the wonderful pasta, great grilled meat including suino nero, lemon ice cream, a plateful of local cheeses and a bottle of wine all for 30 euros a head- oh and then a complimentary hazlenut liqueur. Needless to say we didn't eat the next day but lived on the memory for the next few days. Just leave the choice to the boss and enjoy!

The other highlight was Spizzulio in Agrigento. A great wine shop/ wine bar. Simple local food , great wine and above all a really friendly owner passionate and knowledgeable about his local wine and produce. You will not be disappointed!

Cowes Isle of Wight?

Thanks! They sound good. If you know the I.O. W. are there any other good alternative pubs/ restauarnts not too far from Cowes but definitely with a sea view as we will have a car and understand it might actually be sunny this week!

Cowes Isle of Wight?

Any recommendations welcome please for good pub/ brasserie/ restaurant in Cowes? casual preferred!

thanks

Best value in Paris? Good food for 30-40 euros a head including wine?

Thanks! went to La Cerisaie and just loved it!! Excellent meal and great atmosphere- a real find. Only downside was I thought the wine prices were a bit steep but will definitely be going back!!

A week in Normandy - recs please!

Delighted to hear you enjoyed Le Moulin- you may have heard already but it was originally set up by Jean Christophe Novelli so the chefs I think trained under him- it's one of our favourites!!

Best cocktails or wine bar St Germain or Montparnasse?

Any suggestions please for best pre dinner cocktails or great wine bar in St Germain or Montparnasse area?

A week in Normandy - recs please!

Also forgot to mention L''archerie near Villedieu - better in winter though as they have the fire going!

Thanks so much- my stomach is starting to get very excited!

Best value in Paris? Good food for 30-40 euros a head including wine?

Any suggestions please? Would love St Germain area but very flexible , not fussed about the decor, not even looking to impress but just appreciate and enjoy good value, good food and some atmosphere!

thanks

Foodie looking for the real restaurants in Sicily

A week in Normandy - recs please!

Where exactly are you going? if you around the Avranches area try Le Moulin de Jean in Cuves, L' Archerie near Villedieu les Poeles, Auberge Du Terroir in Servon, Le Croix D'or in Avranches, Le Littre in Avranches, Le Surcouf in Cancale and for the best real French experience ( not for the food which is quite good but only grilled barbecued meats ) but for a great and inexpensive experience try Chez Francois in Genets! If you are going elsewhere and need particular suggestions let me know- We've had a house there for 10 years so should be able to help. Villedieu market is great fun. Make sure you try the local Calvados ( go to Bernard Legent in Tirepied for tasting- another of the great experiences which i can give you directions if you need!) and of course Moules and frites and oysters in Cancale.

Bon Appetit !! i'm jealous already

Foodie looking for the real restaurants in Sicily

We're off to Sicily in early October and staying in the South East but also travelling around the island by car. Looking for restaurant suggestions but particularly the character ones where decor is not important but the food is! The ones used by the locals and not the tourists. I have already identified most of the Michelin Guide type ones for our "special" meals but now looking for quality, character and the real Sicily at affordable every day prices. Particularly anywhere around Comiso/ Vittoria/ Ragusa/ Modica/ Noto/ Syracuse etc but will travel for good food!

Any help much appreciated!
