A few questions for Portland / Scarborough
I love both Emilitsa and Bar Lola, and would definitely pick Emilitsa if I was only going to one. Bar Lola is probably less expensive overall, but the service can be spotty. I've never ever had a bad meal at Emilitsa. Get the saganaki!
Street & Company. Order suggestions?
I adore the Sole Francaise at Street and Co -- yummy! Be sure to request a table in the back room, which is quieter and not as warm as the room with the open kitchen.
I second the rec for Bar Lola, a consistently good restaurant. The service can often be a little slow, though.
How's my list ? Critique my Portland dining choices please!!
Personally, I'd pick a different place for sushi, I've been underwhelmed by Benkay. I really like Yosaku, for consistently very good sushi; Miyake is, by reputation, the place to go if you want interesting/special/fancy sushi.
Bar Lola's food is wonderful, you might want to consider a meal there, but service can be slow. I tend to enjoy Street and Company, but it can be a little hit or miss. Emilitsa, on Congress, serves wonderful Greek food, including very fresh fish, and is my favorite place (and I would pick it over Street and Company or the Front Room).
Merry Table Pleasant Surprise
I like the ambiance, and the food is pretty good, but I usually find the service to be very slow.
Portland - Dining with a vegetarian
Paciarino has a large number of vegetarian pastas, all of which are yummy, and most of the appetizers are vegetarian too. And then you can head to Gorgeous Gelato for dessert.
Emilitsa is a good choice -- there's always one vegetarian entree, plus the trio of dips/spreads that's listed as an appetizer can make a nice main course too (my husband has done that before). It's a great restaurant overall.

Kid-Friendly in Bar Harbor?
Hey everyone! I'm looking for recommendations for kid friendly places to eat in Bar Harbor -- I'll be there later this week with my 14 month old in tow. Places with decent vegetarian options are preferred. Many thanks!
first time visitor to Portland!
Excellent pasta can be found in Portland at Paciarino, on Fore Street (there's also an excellent gelato place, Gorgeous Gelato, just down the block).

Great food but kid friendly restaurants (Portland, ME)?
We've had a good experience at Yosaku with a toddler; my sister also took said toddler to Green Elephant and said it should be okay for lunch or early in the evening. I've also had a good luck at Paciarino with a baby and am not too worried about bringing her back as she gets older, again earlier in the evening.

Emilista in Portland
My favorite restaurant in Portland. The food is wonderful, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable (especially about all the Greek wines that they know no one is familiar with).
Last Minute Trip to Portland... Help!
I really like Emilitsa, really good Greek food; Paciarino makes excellent homemade pastas; Bar Lola in Munjoy Hill is always stellar. Otto Pizza, on Congress, is a relative newcomer, but makes excellent creative pizzas and sells by the slice.

The Cheese Iron, in Scarborough, is excellent: http://www.thecheeseiron.com/
Moving to Portland, ME
Portland is a wonderful food town (says this ex-New Yorker). The food here may not be as innovative or exciting as you're used to, but one can eat very very well. I'd check out the Portland Food Map: http://www.portlandfoodmap.com/ -- it's a great resource both for food news in town and for an extensive listing of all the restaurants in Portland, including links to reviews, websites, maps, etc.
Run a search for "Portland" on this board, and you'll see a lot of the most commonly named excellent restaurants (Fore Street, Hugo's, Street and Company) -- I'm personally a big fan of Emilitsa (Greek), Bar Lola (small plates), and Paciarino (Italian).

Looking for Vegetarian Friendly in Quebec City
Hi! My husband and I will be spending a few days in Quebec City this month, and are looking for vegetarian-friendly restaurants, especially in Old Quebec, either upper or lower town. We do some fish, just not seafood.
Thanks!
Dinner in Burlington or Montpelier
Mr. Mir and I are looking to spend a night in either Montpelier or Burlington, and are looking for a dinner suggestion, something with nice ambiance and great food, and a focus on fish or vegetarian-friendly (can be Italian or other ethnic).
Thanks for your help!
Portland Saturday mid-afternoon: HELP!
Dogfish Bar and Grille on Free Street serves food all afternoon. I believe Yosaku closes down between lunch and dinner.
Vegetarian/Vegan in Portland, ME?
It's not completely vegetarian, but it does have a lot of vegetarian options.
Vegetarian/Vegan in Portland, ME?
Paciarino on Fore Street has lots of vegetarian pasta options, and they aren't really heavy on the butter or cheese. And it's a wonderful restaurant besides.
You can put together a really nice meal of appetizers and meze at Emilitsa that are vegetarian, and they usually have one vegetarian main course.
Dining in Portland and Portsmouth
Bar Lola, in Munjoy Hill, is an excellent choice -- just had a lovely dinner there this evening. Emilitsa, on Congress in the downtown, is also great.
Looking for Dinner Suggestions in Montreal
One of the members of the group just weighed in with "in the mood for italian, mexican, or indian," if that helps.
Looking for Dinner Suggestions in Montreal
Good evening! I'll be in Montreal this weekend, and am looking for dinner recommendations -- I've tried skimming the boards here and am a little overwhelmed. So many wonderful things to choose from. I'm looking for places with lots of fish and vegetarian options, preferably mid-range price. We're staying near Place Phillips, but will have a car to get around town. We're going to ChuChai on Saturday night -- I was there a few years ago and loved it. But that means I'm not really looking for another strictly vegetarian meal, or one that is Asian-centric. Bonus points for suggesting something with an online menu I can browse! Thank you so much for your help.
The Farmer's Table - Old Port Dining (Portland, ME)?
I can't do shellfish either, and I've never had trouble at street & company. There are usually 5-6 entrees to choose from, usually in the grilled, blackened, or broiled categories, and usually at least one of the specials.
Have heard mixed reviews of the Salt Exchange.
The Farmer's Table - Old Port Dining (Portland, ME)?
Re: Street and Company -- definitely call -- they always seem to be booked between 5 and 9 on Opentable, but never are when you call, even for prime times.
The Farmer's Table - Old Port Dining (Portland, ME)?
I had a very mediocre brunch at The Farmer's Table back in August -- it has not encouraged me to go back. Have you thought of Street and Company? The service can be spotty (often on the slower end), but the food is usually very good. And it's on Wharf Street in the Old Port. I have heard wonderful things about Bresca but have not been myself.
Portland, ME
I'll second Emilitsa -- awesome food! Bar Lola, in Munjoy Hill, is also great; Paciarino, on Fore Street, makes really good basic Italian.
Child-friendly brunch in downtown Portsmouth
Hi everyone,
I'm having brunch this Sunday in downtown Portsmouth with friends who have two kids, aged two and a half, and three months. Looking for suggestions of places that have good food and are child-friendly. We're thinking of the Portsmouth Brewing Company, where I have been before, but it doesn't open until 11:30 and we may need to escape the predicted heat earlier than that.
Thanks for your help!
