Chinese Restaurants in Greenville, SC
Sadly, no. I've been looking for 4 years, and I'm convinced there aren't any -- not even BAD ones. Great authentic Japanese noodle/rice place on Pelham, though -- Sushi Masa.
Birthday dinner in Greenville, SC
When I read your question, Brick Street was exactly what I thought of. I've been there for birthdays, graduations, and just regular get-togethers. Sounds like the perfect spot for what you have in mind.
New and good in Greenville, SC
Ditto on American Grocery -- one of my favorites. For lowcountry, High Cotton is downtown on Main Street. About the same price range as Devereaux's and AGR, but incredibly reasonable for brunch. My lunch "regulars" are near Furman. There is a great deli on Poinsett just past Lowe's -- Foothills Deli. Also, head up further on 276 and Cafe @ Williams-Hardware is new in Travelers Rest. Family-run in an old hardware store, has indoor, outdoor, and screened-porch seating, delicious daily specials, live music on the porch on weekends.
Tacos in Greenville SC
At the Cherrydale Shopping Ctr - Pleasantburg & Poinsett - there is a place called Puerto Vallarta that is pretty good. Not excellent, but better way better than Monterrey's. Also, there is a more authentic not-just-tacos/quesadillas kind of place on Pleasantburg just before the 385 entrance. It's called Rosalinda's and is sort of hidden. It's very small but the owner won't expand because she refuses to compromise the quality of her food (I think the dining room serves 25 at a time).
Lemongrass in Greenville
I like Thaicoon, too, but it's not great for groups -- service is spotty at Thaicoon. I have gotten my food in 5 minutes before but also in 50 multiple times. Also, it's less authentic -- more Thai-inspired Asian-American, I think, though there are some decent curries. Lemongrass is definitely better for actual Thai.
Denver: moving - looking for "my place"
Hi, Denver Hounds!
I am about to move to Denver from South Carolina with my dog. I would love some suggestions on local favorites. I plan on living in Westminster, but anything downtown or the Westminster side of it is fine.
Specifically, I'd love an artsy coffee shop with great sandwiches and desserts; places I can eat outdoors with my pup; and hopefully some Cantonese dim sum. I'm very supportive of small, local businesses.
To give you a taste of what I enjoy, my two favorite places in Greenville, SC:
Foothills Deli, a Panera-type place but local and fresh with a weekly special sandwich not on their menu.
And Cafe @Williams-Hardware: a family-run converted hardware store that serves brunch, sandwiches, and soups but cooks up whatever they feel like on an almost-daily basis and has live music on the patio on weekends - quiche, strata, crab cakes, monte cristo, etc
Both have wi-fi
Looking to get a meal for $5-15 -- inexpensive since I plan on frequenting.
Thanks so much! (Sorry so longwinded!)
