Best burger in Berkeley?
Flame Burger in the Elmwood neighborhood is great (and grass fed), and the service is 100 times better than the horrid, HORRID service at all of the Barney's locations.

best bet in Fremont?
I say just go corporate and head over to Sweet Tomatoes on Paseo Parkway. It's cheap, delicious and healthy, though it lacks snob appeal.
Kid/Baby-Friendly Places in SF?
I'll say Park Chow. It's great for kids and they have a big upstairs section. Parking .... well that's a challenge but it's worth it.

Off-the-beaten-path pho and bun bo hue restaurants
There is a bun bo hue place near me, in Oakland, off 14th Ave. (that's AVENUE) between 580 and 80. Called Bun Mam Soc Trang, located at 1326 E. 18th Street. I always get banh mi there but folks I know say the soup is really good.
Grand Opening - Ms Wally's Cafe (Emeryville/Oakland)
thank you for posting that! Wally's is one of our favorite restaurants and I have got to check it out.
Humphry Slocombe vs. Bi-Rite Creamery... Help me decide
I have had both BiRite and HS and BiRite wins HANDS DOWN. The flavor is just so much better and the vibe is warmer!!
Espetus?
Espetus is horribly overrated. We were disappointed in the food. Try to find anywhere else.
