Looking for spice rack that holds spice bottles horizontally

Looks nice but not exactly what I am looking for. The act of having to pull out the drawers seems like a lot of work.

Looking for spice rack that holds spice bottles horizontally

I have quite a few spices in the kitchen cabinet and finding them can at times be hard given the quantity. The spices need to go into this cabinet due to space limitations. Most counter sitting racks seem to hold spices vertically making reading them improbable. The easier method I see is having the caps labelled and storing the spices horizontally which would save me a lot of space. I can store a lot more spices horizontally than vertically. Does anybody have any recommendations?

What Pepper? Red, slightly spicy and somewhat sweet

What Pepper? Red, slightly spicy and somewhat sweet

Never even heard of these. Thanks

What Pepper? Red, slightly spicy and somewhat sweet

I was at a Mexican restaurant and they served me some sliced peppers on my entrée which I really enjoyed. I tried asking what they were but they didn't speak English so it was a lost cause.

The pepper was sliced thinly, it was red and was just a little bit spicy but also somewhat sweet. It was like a red bell pepper but spicier with a gentler skin. I have searched and searched and keep coming up blank. Anybody have any ideas as to what pepper this was?

Which Coffeemaker to buy - Done with Keurig

Breadmakers? Which ones are the good ones?

I currently don't use a bread maker. I was gifted one a few years ago. A cuisinart. At first I thought it was great but then it started to really wear down. It did this in just a few batches. I also noticed grease coming out from under paddle. It would get in the dough. I called cuisinart and they claimed it was a defect. They replaced the arm and the pan. Well it happened again and I just returned the unit.

Did a lot of research and found out this is a very common problem.

I got really into making bread and just got a Bosch compact mixer instead.

Looking for replacement to aluminium casserole pans

Corning looks pretty decent. I will try to find some at a fair price. Thank you.

Looking for replacement to aluminium casserole pans

Pyrex changed the glass they use, now it's not really safe for cooking and can explode. Older stuff still made of borosilicate is fine

Looking for replacement to aluminium casserole pans

They could I will look into them. Thanks

Looking for replacement to aluminium casserole pans

We continually buy those aluminium cooking pans to make things like lasagna, ziti and other casseroles in. Just looking for something on the cheaper side that will last. Caste iron is likely vest but I am not into any painted or enamelled cookware. Pyrex is known to break these days and I can't really find much else in glass.

any ideas?

Where can I buy malted barley powder?

John, Thanks for responding. I plan to use it to make bagels. It is used in the boiling process.

I am looking for places I can go after work and pick some up.

Where can I buy malted barley powder?

I have tried whole foods, fairway and a few other markets. Nobody seems to carry it. Any idea?

Where to buy Thumann's hotdogs/franks in NYC?

Not in Manhattan but the A&P on Mclean ave in yonkers sells them. You can take the 4 train to woodlawn and then hop on the 20 bus to white plains and take the bus north 3 stops to mcclean ave and the store is right there. Then take the 20 bus back right across the overpass where you were left off by the northbound 20.

They are open until midnight M-Sat (PM on Sunday,

Entire trip from midtown should be about an hour each way if you go after 8pm or mid day.

What is this Italian deli meat called?

Don't know much more than the name. sorry.

What is this Italian deli meat called?

I was watching an episode of cake boss on tlc and they made a cake for a deli. I thought I had tried pretty much all Italian deli meats, but they named one I haven't tried. They called it Brus-i-tin-i or Brus-i-ti-no. So what is this meat?

Sarge's beats out Katz's

When I went away to college, I bought a ham and cheese hero and it had 1 piece of cheese and 2 pieces of ham for $8. I laughed.

Ramen

Rai Rai Ken is my favorite, but in Manhattan.

Brooklyn Pizza Survey — Cut Short

Seems rather silly to cut it short and I assume by nyc you mean only Brooklyn and Manhattan. I suggest you try

Louie & Ernie's Pizza
1300 Crosby Avenue
Bronx, NY 10461 (718) 829-6230 ‎

It is not outrageously expensive, serves an actual Italian population and is not hyped by hipsters.

BEST BURGER NYC?...

I can't say I am a fan of Shake Shack, the portions are very small and for what you get quite expensive. The burgers are kinda fatty and non filling. Plus those lines at the 23rd st location are insane and not worth it.

I've found diner burgers to be the best in the city.

Pelham Fairway is Amazing

Food emporium is not A&P, they are for different demographics. I can't say I have been to all of them, but of the ones I have been to, they have had poor selection.

Pelham Fairway is Amazing

It's good you will go back, I want them t stay open.

Pelham Fairway is Amazing

around 8pm on a Tuesday.

Pelham Fairway is Amazing

It's like a ghost town come prime time. It is a real pleasure to shop in. You can actually stop and read a label.

Pelham Fairway is Amazing

Baking may be weaker, but compared to the average pathmark or A&P it is spectacular. They actually sold something other than all purpose flour.

Where can I find Urge/Surge Soda?

I am looking for either the Surge or Urge (Norway) soft drink. The Urge would of course need to have been imported from Norway. Does anybody know of where I can get it in the greater nyc area?

Surge of course is no longer made by CocaCola and has not been in around 8 years.

Woodlawn/ Riverdale Irish bakeries?

Sorry for the late reply, it is just called McLean Ave bagel Cafe

Pelham Fairway is Amazing

I have only been to the 74th street Fairway and while they have decent products the crowds are horrible. But the Pelham store is absolute great. The prices are so drastically low compared to other stores in lower Westchester and far lower than whole foods everywhere.

I was quite impressed with the store, as the shelves where stocked fully and the store was almost empty, my perfect store. It was pretty odd that the store was so empty considering the prices are so low, this was around 8.

Anyway, I am afraid this great store will close down if people don't shop there. So if you haven't tried it yet, please do. It is great.

Some price comparisons

I needed a bag of rye flour, same bah was $6 at WholeFoods(WF) in Columbus Circle and $3.19 at Fairway.

Box of wheat Gluten $7 at WF, $3.69 at Fairway.

My Toms deodorant $6 at WF, $3.99 at Fairway.

Heading to Buffalo from Toronto for a couple days and need advice

Elmos is a great bar with amazing wings. The wings are not as good as Duffs but they are better than anywhere else in the state. The Cajun is phenomenal.

Best NY style pizza is Zettis by far (Thin Crust)

Best Buffalo style is La Nova (Bready but not Chicago style)

Also treat yourself to some sponge candy at Parkside candies on Main st. They make amazing chocolate and candies in there.
