Trendiest Places to Eat and Hang out in NYC/Manhattan

Pegu Club, Stanton Social and 'inoteca would be a good start. Otherwise, just go to the MePa if that's your thing.

Bar/Dinner suggestions

Alta? If you want more a divey place (and your friends like beer), you can try Pony Bar in Hell's Kitchen. Great beer selection for cheap, and decent food too.

First date restuarant recs?

Mayahuel is pretty much perfect - but might be difficult to stay under $100.

Romantic spots

I'd do at least one dinner in the West Village. Maybe check out Turks and Frogs for tapas?

In LES, check out Apizz. Finding a "romantic" spot in the city is very difficult, as the scene at any restaurant changes by the day.

There is also the Modern at the MoMA, but again, if you go on the wrong night, the bar room at the Modern can be packed.

where to go for drinks after dinner at Aldea

Raine's law room is great. Excellent cocktails, very relaxed ambiance (assuming you are not going Thu-Sat). Cocktails are around $14 each, if it makes a huge difference.

Recs for Sunday dinner in Village, close to Bleecher and Thompson, not too expensive?

Check out La Lanterna di Vittorio on Macdougal, right across the park.

Arturo's comes to mind if you want to do pizza.

Romantic(ish) restaurant for a special occasion - GV/UWS

Ok, I will chime in: Even though you are in the theater district, the great thing about Manhattan is that you can get around basically anywhere using the subway or taxi. So, going downtown for you should be easy (take the 1 which will be closest to your hotel).

As for restaurants, I think you are best off narrowing down a neighborhood since you are open to a variety of cuisines. IMO, if you are looking for a nice, romantic area, you can't do better then the West Village. It has plenty of great restaurants, and its a really nice area to walk around before or after dinner (Definitely walk over the highline in Chelsea if you get the chance). There are lots of live jazz clubs in the area as well.

In the WV, there is places such as Perry Street, Little Owl, etc. For jazz, check out Smalls. The piers are also close to the WV, and i think if you were to take a walk there late night, it would be really nice (weather cooperating, of course). There are plenty of really nice bars in the area too, but I think if you were to go to one, I would do Little Branch.

Best Indian/Pakistani food in Manhattan?

I have been to Dhaba twice, and although it was decent the first time, it was pretty awful the second. IMO, Dhaba=mediocre.

Sarvanaas is pretty good for South Indian food.

I have never been to Cafe Boulud, but I didnt know that it had an a la carte menu dedicated to vegetarian dishes. Is this menu available online? I don't see it on the website. Thanks.

Best restaurants in Chelsea

Very good list. I like El Cocotero a lot. Very reasonable prices, a huge extensive menu, and good atmosphere.

I would also add:
The Green Table in Chelsea Market
Cafeteria (probably a few tourists, but its a good brunch spot and is always bloody packed)
Empire Diner
La Bergamote - Not a restaurant, but a fantastic bakery.

second date in the Chelsea/West Village area

Of course, Blossoms would have been an option if s/he was a vegetarian :).

Anyways, I too agree that 8:45 is a perfectly good time for dinner on a second date.

Have fun!

second date in the Chelsea/West Village area

another place to consider is Blossoms. Its an all vegetarian restaurant, but the food is fantastic. If you want to do tapas, aldea too. I need to eat out more in the West Village. Turks and Frogs Wine bar comes to mind, its mostly small plates menu.

second date in the Chelsea/West Village area

The atmosphere at green table is very nice. Not sure what time you want to do dinner, but a large majority of the market closes after 7 (i think). I had dinner there around 8:30 and it was very quiet. A few other patrons eating, very romantic atmosphere. The food is extremely fresh and excellent. The menu at the green table changes often too.

Restaurant for young couple, $100 total

How about La Lanterna di Vittorio in Greenwich Village? The ambiance is very cozy and romantic, and they sit either in the garden in the back or in the jazz room in the basement. The crowd is casual, the menu is large and extensive, and the food is pretty good. Great desserts too. The prices are extremely reasonable.
