Relaxing weekend with food by a pond? Suggestions for accommodations near good food? [moved from Greater Boston Bd]

you can put together a nice picnic at La Provence in Concord Center, then head to Walden Pond

Massachusetts seasonal restaurant question - Brant Rock, Marshfield

not sure how they do it but am glad they do. I grew up in "Marshvegas" but now live in the western burbs and there is nothing but chain restaurants. I love my regular visits back home to hit up these one of a kind places!

AKA Bistro

this is nice to see people heralding metro west! one more stop west and you can experience 80 THoreau. this is more of an adult place but a really nice night out, and right at the commuter rail stop

Where is the best thin pizza in Metro West

Ahhh, you are right. Thanks for clearing that up, although back in the late 90's we loved FrancA's

Where is the best thin pizza in Metro West

Amici's in CHelmsford and Walden Pizza in West concord are two of our faves.

Where is the best thin pizza in Metro West

Franco's is closed, heard they had a fire there. We loved it there. No signs of any work going on to reopen as I go by on the Commuter rail

Between Cape and Boston

Plenty of places at Derby Street Shops in Hingham, that's about halfway depending on how far down the Cape they are. Another option I love for VERY casual is Poopsies, right off the Route 139 exit (marshfield/Pembroke line) Limited menu, bar pizza, pitchers of beer) kinda place

Need a brunch in Cambridge recommendation

just ealked by Area4 on Main Street in Kendal Square area of Cambridge. There was a sandwich board on the sidewalk advertising that they are starting to serve Brunch on Saturday and Sundays beginning this weekend. Lots of people like it there. Maybe if someone tries it this weekend, they can report.

Catering Recommendation for small baby shower in Cambridge?

The woman who started REbecca's, Rebecca herself sold the franchise and now does catering on her own. OUr office has used her many times and the food is really delicious and much better than we ever had from Rebeccas the sandwich shop. You may be able to google her, since I am not at work, I don't have her contact info

Cheap Lunch in Cambridge near Kendall Square?

two possiblities: one is the new all you can eat buffet at MIT's Maseeh Hall, its at the corner of Mem Drive and Mass Ave, recently renovated, gorgeous building, on the river. It is food court style but you pay once as you enter and linger and eat all you care. (not sure of the prices somewhere between 10 and 12 maybe for non students.)
2nd is the Restaurant at Le Cordon Bleu, its over by 3rd street, I think, might be better saved for warmer weather since its a walk.

Italian casserole?

chicken, ziti, brocolli is always a hit and you can also make it with shrimp to change it up or have a variety.

Best butternut squash roasting method?

peeled, cubed, tossed with olive oil, salt pepper and brown sugar.

Seeking fun bar for group of 20-30 in Boston for a Tuesday happy hour

you might look into Catalyst, a new place near Kendall, on Main Street

Where to dine between Cambridge and Ayer, MA?

Belle's Bistro in Westford is a really great place for a girls night, done it many times. There is also Moonstones in Chelmsford where we have enjoyed wine and tapas.

restaurant with a private room in Metrowest?

I recently attended a private event after a memorial service at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury.Very nice!

candy outlet

not sure if you are thinking of this but for a while after NECCo sold their signature space on Main Street in Cambridge, they used the space, right across from Lechmere and had a tiny outlet store there. They have moved over somewhere in the REvere area, I know how to get there when I'm behind the wheel (must be an internal divining rod for chocolate) but sorry, I cannot tell anyone how to get there.

Met Bar at Legacy place?

Going here for the first time saturday night with a group. Been on a low carb thing for a while, what should I order? I am not a fish eater.
Thanks for the help.

Pizza party in Lincoln

Another for Walden Kitchen! We love it but we have to go through the rotary to go there and its crazy at dinner time but when we are brave enought its our choice!!!

late dinner in Concord?

do check out 80 Thoreau and ask for the bar menu as well, they will accomodate ordering off either. you should be happy there, I am told their gin and tonic with housemade tonic is delish

I need some decent watermelon today or tomorrow

good luck with Market Basket whole watermelons. 4.99 each

Light reception for 100, near Mt. Auburn

maybe try the MIT faculty club. nice views of the river and Boston, depending on the date/time, might be easy to park along memorial dirve

Function room for baby shower - near 128 and north of mass Pike

The Westin Hotel in Waltham, meets your criteria.

First Anniversary Dinner Location---in from out of town

you're probably right, sorry

First Anniversary Dinner Location---in from out of town

Since you haven't been here since childhood, I would suggest a drink at the top of the hub or 60 state street, do it a dusk if you can so you see the city, then the city lights. I would not suggest eating at either of these places, go for a drink and the view

Good Places to Eat outside of Boston?

The other great place in Cocnord to try is the concord wine and cheese shop. They make sandwiches too but their cheese is great and they are really freindly. Stay away from main Streets Cafe! You might also enjoy the Colonial Inn, it gets panned here sometimes but they do have a lovely front porch and live music several nights a week

Using fresh garden herbs in a dip for crudite

In the garden, I have: cilantro, chives, arugula, thyme, oregano, basil, tarragon and mint. Any ideas for good combos to make a flavorful dip for veggies?
THanks!

Live music on the South Shore

is your emphasis on the music or the food? most times you sacrifice one for the other. Anyway, in Marshfield there is Poopsies on 139, pizza and beer type place with usually asoloist doing current stuff, there is the Fairview Inn on the water, very laid back atmosphere, moslty 30/40/50 something couples small groups. A new place, The Bailey (spelling may be wrong) Irish pub feel with usually Irish trending music. The Deck also has music, mixed crowd but usually a fun time. Depending on what you want for food, the Fairview is probably the most upscale, then the bailey, Then the Deck and finally Poopsies is more of a pub

Idea needed for special dinner\anniversary - Like Chef's Table or Lighthouse Dinner

This may not be as upscale as you would like but there is a place in Groton, MA called Gibbet Hill Grill that has a silo room which is quite romantic. The place is situated on a working farm and the views are gorgeous. There are not accomodations on the porperty, there is a Residence inn and a Regency nearby. If 495 is convenient for you from RI, you might also try the Nashoba Winery in Bolton, MA (of course it would be cruel for your pregnant wife not to be able to sample the wines)

Breakfast spot near MIT?

Tha marriot also does their own breakfast. Another option so that you can see a little of MIT while you're here is breakfast at the Forbes Cafe in the Stata Building, this is the Frank Gehry building at the corner of Main Street and Vassar (2 blocks from the Marriott). The building looks like a plane crashed into it. Anyway, they do a made to order omelet, brakfast meats etc, also have grab and go, granola/yogurt parfaits, . Very cheap and pretty good, interesting atmosphere. Also a few more blocks down Main street is a new spot just opened yesterday by Michael Leviton (Lumiere). Pastry/coffee right now but will be expanding their menu in the next few days with more offereings. It is called Area 4, people in my office who've tried it, like it

Cheap eats in Boston around tourist locations (Freedom Trail,Aquarium,Science Museum, etc)

I agree about RF O'Sullivans their burgers are huge, cooked to order and right under your $10 limit. They come with fries that are really about an 1/8th of a potato each fry, so good, it does take a little time though.
