Boston local food gift ideas?
I vote for a box of Serenade chocolates in Brookline. They are very local and excellent. The original owner and source of the chocolate recipes made in the store was a wonderful man who came from Europe after WW II.

Interesting re: dinner. Maybe I'll have to give that a try as well.
Where to find challah?
Another vote for Kupel's in Brookline. Consistently good Challah.
Where have you always had a bad meal?
Summer Shack -- surprisingly and stunningly bad. Same with Legal Seafoods, which used to be great years ago. Now terrible consistently (except for their clam chowder).
BAGELS
I prefer Kupels. I have had them very recently, and they're great. Also good fresh cream cheese. I think the major problem with your plan, though, is getting the bagels the day before they will be eaten. Day old bagels, no matter where they're from, will really not be very good.
Great Breakfast in Las Vegas
For anyone looking for a fabulous breakfast in Las Vegas I highly recommend First Food and Bar in The Palazzo (attached to The Venetian). My husband and I were in Vegas in August (the restaurant had opened in the spring), and we went there multiple times. We both agreed that they serve the best french toast we have ever had (and I'm a real french toast fan). Our favorite breakfast place in Vegas for years used to be Bouchon, but not any more. Go -- you'll thank me. (You can check out their menu on their website.)
Las Vegas Fine Dining
I absolutely agree that Alex is the best of the best. You won't be disappointed if you go there. We've been to Picasso a number of times over the years, and it is very good, but not as good as Alex. Le Cirque in the Bellagio used to be our favorite for a number of years before we tried Alex (I guess actually before Alex opened), and is also quite good.
Best deli and pastrami in Vegas
Yes, the Stage Deli at the Forum Shops at Caesar's has closed. Really too bad. We went there for many years, especially for breakfast. We have also gone many times to the Carnegie Deli at the Mirage. I think it is quite good. Have had their pastrami, and think it's a good version. They are famous for their blintzes, if you like that kind of thing (which I do). However, they seem to me to be smaller than the blintzes at the original Carnegie Deli in NY (but that may just be my memory).
Trip Suggestions? (Las Vegas)
I give a big vote to Alex. We have eaten there a number of times over the years (most recently in August) and have never had less than an extraordinary experience there. On our last visit we used the "Taste of Wynn" menu (lowered priced), and everything was fabulous. You won't be sorry.

Don't worry. My husband and I used the "Taste of Wynn" at Alex in August, and I mentioned it at time of reservation. Our table, service, food, etc. was just as fabulous as the various times we have eaten at Alex over the years without a special deal. Don't worry. Definitely go ahead. We had a great time, and I'm sure you will too.

Le Comptoir du Relais Paris
Hi. Does anyone have any suggestion about how far in advance one should reserve for dinner at Le Comptoir du Relais? I know one can try at the last minutes, but I'd rather have a reserved place. My husband and I are renting an apartment in Paris for about 10 days in early March. Also, any advice about how best to contact the restaurant to make the reservation?
Finally, any other great restaurants to recommend in the same price range as Le Comptoir du Relais that also should be booked far in advance?
