It was a bust. I ate their today. I had seen it on the Food Network. I happened past on my was to FDR house like everyone else it seems. The Atomic burger was had no flavor, a meaty taste at points but effectively bland. The amount of chili on the burger was laughable. Not that I need a mountain but it was a garnish not a topping. The fries are those damn panko coated fries I am so tired of. The best part of the cole slaw and pickle. The death by chocolate cake was dry, a common problem with diner cakes but sad. The people were hanging out the doors so I had high hopes. I think I should have tried breakfast - malted pancakes, bananas foster french toast. However, the quality of a burger is how I measure a diner. I was royally bummed. The staff was sufficient.

You're point is good about difficult communication. I plan to go back and I didn't know Bandu was Tawainese as well. That's next on the list.

Thanks to whoever posted about China Palace. I've been driving past it for years thinking it must have been awful and probably closed. If you like Asian food and you've never had Tawainese food - go for it. The hostesss is not terribly friend and she won't help you decide what to order - except when she tells you not to order the fried meatball but its good. I had spicy pork with tofu - take out. The tofu was tender, buttery. The brown sauce had a great flavor, different than all the Cantonese and Sezchaun. the sacuse had fermted black bleans, coriander seeds ginger and chili. The rice was fluffy and tender. Totally worth 8.50. I can't wait to go back to one of their many noodle dishes.
Can anyone reccomend something else worth trying off their menu?
Jim's Burger Haven, is it really all that?
I heard the White Castle deal fell through b/c Hazlet would approve the project, I agree about Jim's Burger Haven, I think you have to grow up with it to love it. I had it once or twice and it's ok. the white paper is fun. Some rave about Chil Dogs. I talk to a lady that grew up in CA, never had a White Castle, when she finally did she didn't like em. Everything she said about them was true she just didn't appreciate the taste
Red Oak Diner & Lounge, Hazlet NJ
The menu is crazy large...to much to choose from. Try the Hawaiann Turkey Burger. Sounded a little odd but it was out of this world.
Pizza in Monmouth County
I still haven't found a pizza doesn't makes me want to go running back to Staten Island every time I want seriously good pizza. When you find it let us know. Check NJ Magazine - this month they are reviewing restaurants and they name a place in Asbury but I can't remember the name
