Oh, BTW to anyone thinking of going... They do have their menu online and you'll be pleasantly surprised to see that they are different than many of the rest! Check it out for yourself ;-)

SARASOTA Isan Thai Restaurant

Hey, thanks for the report back! Looking forward to going there... Love duck but I rarely get it because it seems like it a toughie for alot of restaurants, but it looks like this might be my place for duck! Yay!

Fort Myers 2012 a few places I've liked this winter season

Oh OK, great thanks! We do Cru so know the area.... Just hadn't seen that one. Yet. .-)

Thanks for the tip on the Paris/Saigon. Always looking to try good Vietnamese. We're in Venice but get to Costco and several other places in the area- is it nearby?

>- Smoked salt with grinder<

Not to mention the inexpensive price for the salt/grinder... AND the salt is wonderful.

Are these Disney/Tourist Area restaurants toddler appropriate? Deep Blu, Bluezoo, Tchoup Chop

Not familiar w/the others, but I'd say no to toddlers at Tchoup Chop. Citywalk would be more suitable.

Talk about no parking. That will be ridiculous.

How jam packed is it??

Euphemia Haye for dinner and jazz?

We tried it several times. Less than impressed. Don't remember any jazz either.

Orlando area top 10 - February 2012

Thanks, these are GREAT ideas y'all! Can't wait for our next road trip to !Orlando

Little Moir's Food Shack -- deserves its own thread!

We drive from Sarasota to eat there and we've never ever been disappointed... Well maybe a little, just because we can't try EVERYTHING! But it just makes us go back more often.

Great review! Thanks for the memories. Think it's time for another road trip now.

Thanks for the update. We're in Venice and don't get the news on that.

Market with live seafood in Sarasota area?

Strange, never happens to us. In fact our favorite places make sure the quality is there as well as the amount... Often a bit more food. Could it be attitude?!

Market with live seafood in Sarasota area?

That happens many places in snowbird season. Try eating there or anyplace in June or July! Service is GREAT!

Nellie's Deli -- Sarasota (Terrible)

DeSoto is one of the sammich's @ the Brown Bag!

Market with live seafood in Sarasota area?

Try A Bit of Boston in Venice. Right on 41 just south of Shamrock Blvd. You won't be sorry!

Lotsa Lobster

We had them prepare three lobsters for us last Christmas Eve and they were delicious! I was a little worried because they had a HUGE list for that day, but they were done perfectly. No complications at all in fact.

We've sent many people there and never heard one complaint. Sorry you had one bad experience.

What's the story with The Table restaurant in St. Pete/Sarasota?

THanks so much for the input! I have it at the top of our list!

Nellie's Deli -- Sarasota (Terrible)

VERY good. Try the DeSoto!

Savor Sarasota Resaurant Week Thoughts

I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt that the restaurants should have been prepared with their menus. I was disappointed since a couple of them were on our list of possibilities and wonder if the eventual menu would be an afterthought.

I did see the marsala on the menu @ Caragiulos and was forced to put them on our list ;-)

Any thoughts on Derek's offerings? We haven't been there and thought to try it but not sure.... Same w/Selva.

Savor Sarasota Resaurant Week Thoughts

Any thoughts on the menus offered and/or the participating restaurants?

I was a little disappointed in SKOB's list... unless I'm missing something. OTOH, Libby looks to be a fun TIC menu!

Please lets keep it constructive instead of the nasty one-liners that have been invading the Sarasota topics on this board recently.

Anything At All in Sebring/Lake Placid

There's a good Cuban place there, but the folks we're visiting don't like Cuban. Any recommendations for anything in that area?

Nancy's Bar-B-Q in Sarasota

Our second visit and we chose pork and chicken this time. Like the brisket, the pulled pork was so full of fat it was inedible. The chicken... was OK. Seems as though all the meat is pulled out of the smoker before prime time. The smoke/bbq flavor just wasn't there

I forgot to mention the sauce. Unremarkable. Could be out of a can. Could be mixed by someone without imagination.

Overall disappointed. Too many restaurants to try to spend time on those that are "OK".

Food delivery service?

Sarasota Catering in Gulfgate used to prepare individual meals daily. I'm not sure if they still do that but if they don't they may know who would.
