Greasy Tacos
I think that's it. I'll try it tomorrow, thanks. Just add some lard to the pan after the meat is cooked?
Greasy Tacos
that sounds really tasty actually, but this bad boy wasn't fried. it was just.. perfect :)
Greasy Tacos
There's this mexican restaurant near me that makes the best tacos. tacos, like i've never tasted anywhere before. they say it's a california mexican restaurant and i don't really know what that means but the tacos are divine.
the ground beef they use is super greasy, so much so that it just seeps through the shell into the wax paper that they bring them out on. i can't detect any sort of spice in the meat either, which is strange. it's just a messy hard taco. i was wondering though, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get similar results with ground beef. whenever i make my taco meat, it comes out dry and without a lot of flavor and when i add cumin or the chili powder, it just ends up tasting fake. i'd really like to be able to make a good taco for cinco de mayo, so if anyone has any suggestions, i'd love to hear them.
thanks
Shallotte NC bars?
I just moved to Shallotte NC and I asked around for a good local bar but the locals all say that Chili's is the best bar in town. I refuse to believe that Chili's is the best bar, does anyone know of anywhere to get a good beer?
bbq chicken
thanks everyone. the chicken turned out great and everyone seemed to enjoy it a lot!
bbq chicken
i'm going to be doing some bbq chicken for an outdoor grill party tomorrow and i was wondering if i should put the bbq sauce on the chicken overnight or just serve it on top once the chicken has been grilled off?
What can I do with a Smoked Turkey?
I received a smoked turkey breast as a gift recently and wanted to try something different than just turkey sandwiches. any good suggestions out there?
Old Fashioned with American Honey
thanks. i'll give it a try and let you know how it turns out
Old Fashioned with American Honey
I had a drink at a restaurant the other night that they called "The Fall Fashioned." It was an Old Fashioned made with American Honey, Makers Mark, Muddled Orange, Pomegranate and Bitters. Has anyone heard of something like this before? I've been trying to replicate it with limited success but it was one of the best drinks I've ever had the pleasure of drinking.
Cafe America in Doylestown
I am heart broken that they took the escabeche off the menu
Doylestown/Fountainville
I love the soup house soups but haven't tried their burgers. What was wrong with it?
TJ Smiths on 611
Has anyone tried TJ Smith's right on 611? I think it opened recently and I've seen a bunch of cars out there. Is it any good and what kind of food should I expect?
Doylestown/Fountainville
Knight House is a great place for a solid meal. Sushi to Go has the best sushi around and if you're looking for a burger, then Basically Burgers is a solid choice.
Best Sushi in the Philly Burbs
If you're ever in the doylestown area, Sushi To Go is the best Sushi I've had. It's realitivly cheap, the sushi is delicious and the people that run it are super nice. My favorite in the area, even over OOKA as far as sushi is concerned.
First Time in Pittsburgh
we kind of ran out of time and ended up eating at this little sports bar across the street from the baseball stadium. it ended up being a really great place though, the usual bar/pub food had some great flavors. I'm blanking on the name but it was a Mcullughs or something along those lines. They had these things called "onion straws" that were out of this world and their club sandwich was perfect. I got to see a lot of the city though, driving around, and I was really impressed. I'm looking forward to heading out there again and getting more of a culinary experience
Let Them Eat Cupcakes- Doylestown
just wanted to post my 2 cents and say that these are some of the best cupcakes i've had. it's the perfect little treat after a date night at the county.
First Time in Pittsburgh
haha nevermind. i've been reading through the boards and came up with some places. read before ya post i guess ;)
First Time in Pittsburgh
I'll be taking my first trip out to Pittsburgh and was wondering what some good restaurants were. I know that's really vague, but I'm curious to see what people like. I'm pretty much into whatever and like to have a good and memorable experience.
Steaks on the Grill
What are some good steaks to throw onto the grill? Something with a good meaty flavor that would be enhanced by grilling them. Or does it even matter all that much?
Good Restaurants in Doylestown/Bucks County Area
I've passed by Honey before and it seems to have a cool atmosphere. How are the prices there compared to the food that they serve?
Poached Steak?
thanks for all the replies. the chicken came out excellent, just falling apart with a lot of flavor. i threw the steak in raw and let it simmer and poach for about 2 hrs. it tasted pretty good, except that it ended up tasting a lot like stew beef, which wasn't what i was going for at all. i was also wrong about it being flank steak, it was actually flat iron. next time, i think i'm going to grill up the steak before and throw it in the mix so that it just takes up some of the flavor without turning into stew beef.
Good Restaurants in Doylestown/Bucks County Area
My parents are coming up for a visit from North Carolina and all I ever hear from them is how good the food is down there. They always find some way to point out how much better there restaurants are down there, so on this trip I'm trying to wow them with some solid meals. We are into all sorts of cuisine, so the type of restaurant doesn't matter so much, as long as it's delicious. Any ideas out there for good restaurants in the Doylestown/Bucks County area?
Poached Steak?
So I have on the stove now some chicken covered with some mexican sauces, juices and spices, and I was going to let that cook all day until it falls apart. I was wondering if I threw a flank steak into the sauce, would that cook through just like the chicken? or would it take forever?
Good wine retailers near KoP, PA
we can get beer at wegman's now though ! i'm not sure about wine..
Chefs Knife
here's a wrinkle. the kitchen that i just started working out had me do prep with these knives. i really liked them, especially the way they felt in my hand. later on in the day i looked a bit closer and realized that they were rachel ray knives. so would it be silly to go buy a few of hers since the kitchen where i work uses them?
Anthony Bourdain in Japan
So Anthony Bourdain was in Japan I think and he was talking about how there is this Japanese word that describes eating and drinking yourself till you explode. That that is the ultimate happiness to obtain. I'm trying to remember the word but can't even come close, does anyone else remember that episode at all?
