Cheap breakfast special in Vancouver.

Another cheap breakfast to add to the list is Evelyn’s Cafe & Grill on W. Broadway between Arbutus and Yew Streets. Breakfast starts at $3.50: 2 eggs, hashbrowns and 2 pcs of toast. Add 3 pcs of bacon or 3 pcs of sausage, or ham for a dollar more. Good and not greasy. More details at my blog.

Greyelf, sorry I haven't been checking this thread for a while. Cafe Burrard sounds interesting. The price isn't that much different from Yummy Sushi. But they are conveniently located in Downtown area. Actually I used to live around the corner from this place but I never try this restaurant, perhaps because they close during weekends. If I ever have a weekday off again, I'll make sure to try this place. Yummy sushi coffee is not good, but their breakfast is yummy.

I finally went to Yummy Sushi, as suggested by greyelf, a couple of weeks ago. It was great. For $2.99, I got 5 pcs of bacon/sausage, 2 eggs, 2 toasts and a pile of hash browns. The bacon was so crispy. The hashbrowns were great. And it's much faster than Bon's. I was so impressed I wrote a full review on my blog post this week.

Where can I buy Malted milk powder?

Jaymie,
Try T&T supermarket. They should have some. More likely the Horlick brand. But it may contain sugar. But call them first before you make a trip. Here's the link to their phone numbers. http://www.tnt-supermarket.com/en/contactus.php

You can also try asian grocery stores in Chinatown too.

cheers,

Good Tacos Vancouver (downtown)

Selena,
You should try La Taqueria when you have a chance. But as you'd probably know, they use corn tortillas. I happen to like both corn and flour tortillas:)

Good Tacos Vancouver (downtown)

Here's the summary:
Last week I had a chance to compare tacos from two mexican restaurants. Don Guacamoles and La Taqueria (just newly open at 322 W. Hastings St). They both are good. But I personally prefer La Taqueria a more because of the overall taste and down-to-earth atmosphere. The owners are also friendly and nice. The price are about the same. $2.50 per meat taco or $9.50 for 4. $2 per veggie taco only at La Taqueria. Check it out. You can also read a full review on my blog.
Enjoy :)

Cheap rice cookers in Vancouver

I got one from London drugs for about 15 bucks. It's a tiny one but suit my need perfectly.

$4.77 may sound a bit more than $2.95 breakfast at bon's. But since it's downtown, I can just walk there. No bus fares. So, with that in mind, it's a pretty good deal. Thanks selena.

Thanks Grayelf. I just added Cambie's restaurants to my breakfast list:) lol. Silly me.

That's a great find, Greyelf. Do you know the name of the restaurant?

New Japanese Donburi Restaurant on Robson St.

Here's my short review summary:
After a couple visits to this restaurant, I really like the Buta-Mayo Don (Gingered pork stir fried on rice). The dish comes with mayo streaks on top of the pork which looks really yummy. The taste was good but I wish the ginger flavor was a bit more intense. I'm also impressed with the speed of the food. Great for lunch in a hurry. I literally got my order in a minute. The service is above average compare to your typical self-service restaurants.

Deals on meals -- who has 'em in Vancouver?

I'll have to check out Zin's and Goldfish.

New Japanese Donburi Restaurant on Robson St.

I love spicy food. I'll have to try their mapo tofu donburi soon:)

Cheap breakfast special in Vancouver.

I refilled my own coffee too! It's just easier that way. I saw that their waiters and waitresses work so hard. There are not enough of them. But that's how they can keep the cost down, I guess. Anyway, I think it's kinda fun to go watch people there. Food is, like you said, good for $2.95.

Vancouver microbreweries with decent food?

Granville Island Brewing is a great choice for local beer. But if you're into food, Steamworks has more choices.

New Japanese Donburi Restaurant on Robson St.

Thanks fmed. I'll try my best:)

New Japanese Donburi Restaurant on Robson St.

New Japanese restaurant called Donburiya just opened today. It locates next to Don Guacamole on Robson (1329 Robson). 5 menu items to choose from now. Small bowl $5.50, Big Bowl $6.50. On Sept 10, there will be 5 more noodle soups to choose from. From now til Sept 10, you will get free miso with your order.

I'll write a review about it soon. In the meantime, you can check it out for yourself.

I just jotted it down on my notebook. thanks greyelf.

Vancouver - What are your "Can't miss" dinning experiences?

Wow, that's quite a dinner. I hardly spend over 10 bucks for any dinner. I'm jealous:)

Is there any decent sushi in the Vancouver business district?

Have you tried sushi zero one? It's pretty cheap and decent. I think it's on pender and seymour. Only 4 block or so away.

Mexican tortas on Cambie (Vancouver)

Oh well... I don't think I'm gonna try this place anymore. $10 for a mexican sandwich? I can get 3 shrimp wonton noodle soup from East Fusion and still have a buck left:) Gotta get them while they are on special though. lol.

Cheap breakfast special in Vancouver.

I think they are probably the cheapest. $1 for breakfast special. I just post a story about it on my blog last night.:)

Cheap breakfast special in Vancouver.

Thanks grayelf. So many breakfast under $3. I'm happy.

Westside Bakery for Bread? (Vancouver)

Try T&T supermarket. I love their Utane Bread. It comes in Carrots and multigrain too. Very interesting, soft and chewy texture. And it's affordable. Not sure if there's one in the west side though.

School Girl,
Let us know how it goes:)

Cheap breakfast special in Vancouver.

ahhh. I was trying to imagine what Japanese style breakfast would be. No clue here:) lol. But $4 still affordable. I'll put it on my list.

Is it a japanese style breakfast? That would be really interesting.:)

Mexican tortas on Cambie (Vancouver)

Thanks Guys for all your suggestion. I know Don Guacamoles. It's very close to my work. The price is a bit high to my liking:) I didn't know about Donna Cata, El Taco, or Duffin. I will check them out.

I used to live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I got used to cheap great mexican food there. Oso, De Leon's and Chipotle to name a few. If you have a $5-$7, you're all set. If you order the daily special, it would be a buck cheaper:-) And their portions are huge. I always have left over to take home with. Too bad they are not in Vancouver.

Grayelf, let me know about La Casa De las Artistas. It sounds expensive already though. lol.

Cheap breakfast special in Vancouver.

@gourmet wife. I agree with you about people watching. And it's a good value for the money. We have to realize that it's a $2.95 breakfast. I'll have to try Jane's soon. Do they serve breakfast all day?

@ck1234 Thanks CK. Another $2.95 Breakfast? Cool:))) I don't care if the place is dingy & dirty. They all added up to fun, down to earth and affordable experiences.

Souvlaki sounds good too. Thanks fmed.
